Plan for Ian Barber

Text trees have been a major part of my thoughts over the last few days. When irrational made system shock 2, they decided that communicating with NPC's wasn't an effective or immersing way to pass on information. Half Life has the characters kind of talk at you, but Deus Ex does have sections of traditional style text tree's.

The bext use I've see of them is in the tex murphy games (mainly Pandora Directive and Under a Killing Moon, if anyone has the old ones around I would love to try them :) where the questions and answers were both played in sound/video and displayed as text.

So, I'm wondering whether text trees (or some variant I'll probably update about later) are a worthwhile way to go, or do they just get in the way.
