Thoughts on coding

Some months ago I had decided to start programming a rpg in torque, that project was immense for me who as a person who has not even finished a full demo. To make a long story short the code I started worked but I did notunderstand why, so I decided to write the game in actionscript, and now the game is in full development with a team of 6.
I turned it into an online game something like adventurequest, using a revised opend20 system. here are some concept drawings from one of our artists.

The only reason I went to actionscript was because I felt that for me, actionscript was a clearer language. It was far more understandable for me than torque script. I do not hink this is the fault of garagegames I believe it is just that my level of understanding certain concepts are not up to par. I can't think of a cool idea and have it come to life in torquescript like I can in actionscript. This may have to do with my understanding ( or lack of) of high level programming concepts like client/server programming, data objects, design patterns, and scripts, etc.
I really like what I believe garagegames is trying to do with torque products but first I want to wrap my head around and get beyond a novice at this so I figured I would use this blog to bridge the gap between what I understand about programming and what I dont understand about torque and see if I can get anywhere. It would have been a year since I got TGB as a gift it would be nice to prove that I can make something of it. :)
