Free Stuff - Magnanimous Monday

Hi Everyone,

Following suit of Garage Games I decided to give back a little to the community. I've produced a substantial amount of game content over the last couple of years, and as the weeks go by I'll sort through it and try to make this a weekly habit of giving back a little of what I've ended up with. This of course doesn't preclude a commercial content pack some day...just not what I'm up to working on right now...

With this first "Starter Pack" of assorted content I've included a Sky Starter Kit supplied from Tim Heldna. Here below are a few images of what's included. The licensing is simple. Use it for both free and commercial game content, with the only stipulation that the content itself is not the product. (Credit would also be nice, but not required)

Hope this helps in prototyping, content building or whatever. Thanks to everyone who has given to me and my team at Really Really Good Things Studio.

I love kind people.

Thanks for the free stuff, and thanks for giving back to the community.

Now I just need to produce something useful so I can support the community that has supported me...

Sweet. I have been looking for some new skyboxes for a math game I have almost finished, and these look like they will do nicely. (And yes, you WILL get credit in my work.) The other stuff looks like it will be useful also.

Many thanks.

Alan and Tim: great pack, thank you very much.
You're just walking on my toes 8-/, I was working on a skypack that was planned to be sold... relatively cheap though.
My approach is a bit different, and it's not Terragen rendered.
Not sure I'll be succesful then.

BTW, expect to see this content in Darkwind: War on Wheels! 8-)

Edit: Just noted something wrong in the sky sequences.
line #6 is bottom
line #7 is environment mapping
They are currently inverted in your files and naming convention.
Unles you want the ground to be mapped over objects?

Looks great, Thanks! Didn't see the 10 seamless textures in the zip - did you decide not to release them?

@Stephan
Nice catch. That's what I get for doing things in a hurry. I'll correct them and then re-up them later this evening. Sorry about the toes thing...=)

@Jaimi
Pretty much what I said to Stephan, except I've added the textures into the download zip (and threw in a couple more). It should be listed as "StarterPackFullv1.zip". It's so odd. It's not like me to make a mistrake.

Ironic . . . ;D

But anyway, I guess you weren't kidding about making content, eh Alan?

Oh, and try not to make too many more mistrakes. ;)

@Alan: what I did is very different, so I think it still may be of some interest for people.
Thanks for sharing that.

oh!, and by the way, here is the correct URL:
download here ;-)

Edit: there was a mistrake in a word! 8-/
