Toby Turtle Updates :)

Well I have been slowly plugging away at Toby, making lots of progress. Some good, some not so good.. :)
I went from the blocky level design which was rather simple and plain, to something more detailed in nature. Since he can swim it made sense to have him on a island, so I designed a small island for him to roam. But that got to be a little small, so I expanded it to include a volcano and a forest which took my time in redoing the island scenery. So now I have the mansion, volcano and the forest. Each will encompass 5 levels, which should keep my bisy and give me 15 levels to release for the closed Beta.
The closed Beta: this will be open to a select group of people I will probably choose. For the closed Beta I intend to also release the script code for somethings. Mainly to allow people to help in finding bugs or whatnot. As I intend to sell the game the scripts will not be released, I already have plans for other games and the code has reached a point that I dont feel comfortable just giving it away. I have put alot of time and effort in it and to give it away doesnt seem right to me.
Most of the code is freely available anyways on the GG's Forums so I would also be profitting from others I suppose.. :)
Later I would like to put together a kit or something for making singleplayer games, kind of a starting point for others. maybe ask a nominal fee or donate it to the torque 1.5 source code if GG's is interested.
the finished game I plan to have 30+ levels with various routes you can take so you can replay and take a different route, extending the gameplay a little bit. Such as taking the mansion, going thru the forest, hiking thru the mountains and then down to the sea. Then next time go thru the volcano, travel the forest, traverse the desert, and arrive at the sea. :)
Along your journey you will also run into NPC's who impart wisdom and some rogue AI's who wish you ill will.. All while seeking those illusive eggs.
Right now I am concentrating on level design as I have finished about 75% of the coding, and only about 20% of the level design.
Now for the fun stuff... Pictures!.. :)
A little cottage keeping the home fires burning
The docks where it all begins
Look a door.. Must be important :)
Inside shot of the mansion, wonder whats up those stairs?
Inside the volcano!
1 ups are good, especially in the volcano :)
so until next time... keep deving!
