Project2 is good with TGB

Pros...
+Publisher has paid on time and prompt !!!
+Project 1 (Not Torque) goes code lockdown on monday.
+Get a free out of state trip to meet with publisher to move Project 1 into final development run. I love traveling !
+Things are progressing nicely on Project 2(TGB). We made our 3rd milestone!! Programers are jamming and catching up with our large artwork asset libraries we have created. Implementing my new front end HUD for the next milestone as well, way ahead of schedule. Character Interaction coming soon on next milestone too!!
+New system of interactive mouse movement working smoothly.
+Collisons are BRUTAL (working beyond nicely!)
+Particles Systems are creating tons of cool effects like Waterfalls
+Despite my wonky old school nature, I LOVE WHAT TGB EDITOR CAN DO!!

Ive made my own Game Boy Advance Editors that I thought where pretty advanced. Sold 5 commercial titles developed from them. I even managed to sell my editors to a publisher along with those old Devkits I had laying around the studio. LOL.
MapTitan
GTSprite
But man, This TGB editor can really handle the LAYERING!! I'm not even going to get into how bringing in old school mastery can make this thing rock. I'll just try to lead by example if I can. I just need to know how to work it properly so I dont keep getting stuck in this point where it will not save changes! argh, so without further ado....
Cons...
-I'm an idiot with the editor!! Somehow I keep fondu-ing it into some kind of broken state. My huge delima right now is SAVING CHANGES! For some reason after I edit things then try to save, it automatically returns it to the original state. I was able to trick it somewhat by loading other projects, moving things around, saving, reloading, etc. but it was so much of a pain that I just cant remember how Ive gotten this far. When the dreaded pop-up comes up saying You change Layers/Particles. You must save or you lose your changes I cringe because 90% of the time saying save to that restores it to the last state.
Anyone seen this one? What am I doing wrong? Does it have to do with different programers using different seats we purchased?

Are you perhaps working with very large tile layers? I've only really experiment with small (<300 tiles) layers before ...

Nothing wrong with the image sizes ... and I've never seen that issue with tile layers before. Are you perhaps working with very large tile layers? I've only really experiment with small (<300 tiles) layers before ...

I dont think so. The stats are...
each tile is 128x128 pixels
3 layers of tiles
Seafloor tile layer
x50y50 (from an ImageObject of 8 cells)
Water layer tile
x1x1 (from an animatingObject of 8 frames/cells)
GroundLayer tile
x50y50 (from an ImageObject of 20 cells)
Its not just the tilelayers that I edit which snap back to their old state, but its everything from particles, to moving around objects.
?

TGB is just encouraging you to save your tile layers and particle effects. When you are editing the tile layer (or particle effect) look on the interface on the "edit" tab for a save button. Basically TGB wants you to serialize your tile layers and particle effects. I'm guessing this is for safety?

WHEN I SAVE IT REVERTS TO THE OLD VERSION.
imagine, you edit... you save... your changes are gone.

Yea, but the 'safety' is the problem.WHEN I SAVE IT REVERTS TO THE OLD VERSION.

Looking good... GAME TITAN! :) I have run into the same issue about things snapping back into place. Never found a solution so post it up if you figure it out!

Ok! I Figured it out how to exit the problem of it never saving anything at all. I just exited, rebooted, and started Ben R Vesco's serialization. Level1a, Level1b, Level1c, etc until I get to Level1_Final. Guess I'll just have to get rid of those at the end.
Strange that I will have to serialize ground tile layers as I ussually think of those being saved when the level is saved, since those really shouldnt be changing.
Getting used to it... I just dont like the idea of having to delete a bunch of old tilemaps in the editor. And its not like i have yet figured out how to cut and paste large sections very easy yet.. hmm..
more fun tile editing to come. thanks again Ben

I have the save problem too sometimes... seems to be a bug and it drove me nuts multiple times. I also hate that I have to save tile layers that weren't altered beyong being moved around. I mean.. this info isn't even saved in the layer data but the level file. Oh well.. seems like another post in the Suggestions/Bugs sections of the forums. =)
