Hey Guys,
We have been playing with the idea of releasing some pro/semi-pro models for a new fantasy pack, hopefully to help the next breed of WoW and WarHammer beaters out there.
This Blog/Plan is to cover the Dwarfs progress. From being modeled to textured and polished.

Its around 3k count at the moment, no LOD changes have been made so far, we wanna get it finished first :)

Is the helmet permanently attached, or can you remove it. If so, will you be including different helmets? One like shown, or with horns or such?
Will the guy come with any weapons? I couldn't definitely see him with a mace/hammer or axe.
Thanks! Can't wait to see more!

Wow, this model looks very nice. I have a few questions, though. Is the helmet permanently attached, or can you remove it. If so, will you be including different helmets? One like shown, or with horns or such?

Nice Job!

The Hammer/Axe is a great idea. I was concerned as there is already a Medieval Weapons pack, and a very good one at that, available. So Just making 1 or 2 weapons and a shield to go with him may be just what is bundled.
At first he will be just a dwarf, and later more bells n whistles ;)

Hi John; The helmet at the moment is part of the model. Due to current workload it wont be made removable just yet. Firstly we want to get him textured finished and animated. And when the workload gets a bit less stressy then look at different helmet designs and different skin sets also. The Hammer/Axe is a great idea. So for instance, one character in the above style is nice, but a few would make it easier to make a good prototype, one soldier is ok, but half a dozen is enough to start a war with.
My point is, get a critical mass of models for each genre and charge more.

Anthony, I think it mainly boils down to actually doing enough characters in a series to make it possible to implement a game with them.So for instance, one character in the above style is nice, but a few would make it easier to make a good prototype, one soldier is ok, but half a dozen is enough to start a war with.

Maybe the beard is taking more polygons than required for the shape

Hi Saurabh; yep the beard was made to be fully animated to allow for the model to feel and move more realistic. lower LOD will have to lose some of the extra qualities of this model.

Hi Phil; yep the plan is to do a few different races and characters, but we are going a bit slow at first =) crawling before we even get near the walking stage. But dont worry hopefully we will be able to provide enough resources to build an army, with the help of the GG community that is.Hi Saurabh; yep the beard was made to be fully animated to allow for the model to feel and move more realistic. lower LOD will have to lose some of the extra qualities of this model.

The Model is now what we would call, completed. Redefined, some sexy changes, some extra clean up and now off to rigging again:
