Plan for David Myers

Figured I'd better get used to this .plan thing, so prepare yourself for some ramblings.

First, as Justin Mette mentioned in his first .plan entry he and I attended the GDC 2000 this last March and met the GG guys personally. They took time out to answer our questions about the V12 engine and we started brainstorming immediately afterward in the hotel bar what kind of game we'd like to make using it. We at 21-6 Productions think we have a pretty interesting idea in the works now, and so we've officially started the project.

Justin already gave a description of some of the things we at 21-6 are currently working on while we wait for the V12 engine to come out. To add to that I put a few hours in today working on the following:

o Took the vision document and updated the game design doc with its contents (Game Overview section)
o Started the World Layout section of the game design doc (changed section name to Missions)
o Started the User Interface section of the game design document

Hopefully by the end of August the game design doc will have most of the major sections fleshed out, as we're hoping to start coding the first iteration of the game in September. Of course, I retain the right to claim ignorance of such dates or deadlines.

On a different topic, I recently started playing Anarchy Online and found that most of the performance complaints people have are founded. I was lucky and was able to install successfully on the first attempt. However, walking around in the cities is a nightmare currently (at least with my box). I am going to gut it out, though, and try to get some serious play time in and see what good I can make of the experience. It looks like it has promise, but I will withhold my opinion of the game until I've had more than ten hours to play it.

And stuff...
