Opacity issue

by Atinev · 01/06/2007 (7:40 am) · 5 comments

I was going to put some screenshots of one of my characters in my game today,
but I was just wondering whether anyone knows how to use opacity in torque
because when I use opacity in max it looks cool but when I export to .dts
then in torque the opacity is off?

Another thing, does bump & displacement maps work in torque 1.5?

Any assistance is much apprciated ;)

'ello.

You might want to post these questions in the modeling forum instead of in a blog, but here's the gist:

Opacity is wonky. No bump or displacement.

It would be nice if you can show a picture of what you talking about.

Couple things.
What version of the exporter?

Here's a TDN paper

edit: UH I mean the version of Max and exporter. (1)

You should pick up the Shader Engine, your model work is awesome:), and I believe you would benefit from TSE's ability to use shaders and other tricks to enhance the look of your models:)

hay, I'm more of a Blender fan myself, but my friends and I have come across this problem before (both in Max and Blender). As far as I can remember, there are two place in Max's Material Editor to set the alpha. Also, I don't know how you set up the alpha on the texture, but we've found that alpha channels work, and alpha layers don't.

Hope this is some help for you :)
