Back from the dead?

Happy New Year guys :D

So the last time I posted a blog was probably a long time back. I'm still alive, I've just been mostly lurking on the forums. A lot of things to get take care of. I just finished my college applications, so now that that's done I have more time to concentrate on other things, like homework :D

I just got back from Hong Kong, and I'm still a bit jetlaggy, so I made this in my free time. After all, what's a blog without pictures :D

Made this in gameSpace (yeah, I dug up my copy after 2 years...I still prefer it over what I've seen in max/maya in terms of user interface, but that's just stubborn 'ol me...and truespace 7 is wierd O.o) and rendered in C4D. Weights in at 1178 vertices and 726 faces (i'm assuming 726 is the polycount...). It's still a WIP, most of hte polys i think come from the guns, so i need to find a way to optimize that. Looking forward to hooking it up to TGE and blast around some landscape :D

Try the new softimage xsi release 6. it's a even cheaper than truespace 7 and it's a solid modeling/animation/rendering package. No exporter to Torque yet, that's the only downside but id does export in other formats.

looking good, only 726 polycounts.

I'm just starting to try out gamespace, using the gamespace lite version to see how I like it, that model is very nice

@Appparatus i googled up softimage, but the link gives me a 404...is there a different website?

@Kefan yeah...well, I just added all the other stuff too (6 missiles, a mini-cannon, landing gears), and the poly count basically tripled >_> /me needs to learn how to efficiently model. I'm actually still wondering if I want to make this high-poly as a piece of art or low poly as a usable model in torque...since my main purpose of making this was for my portfolio though for a Digital Media Design program though, I'll probably go high-poly

@J Sears the only reason I stuck with gameSpace/trueSpace was because those were the first ones I used. I mean, to be honest, gameSpace sucks, is buggy, and crashes about 3 times an hour on me. The file formats it can export to for things other than games is limited (although it does have awesome torque support, but if you're doing this for something else it's almost impossible to export...) and I don't think gameSpace has been updated recently (it's been at 1.6 for a year now i think...) Of course, the upside is that it's very affordable, and worth the money. Just not something if you're going full-out art.

@all thanks for the C+C, keep em coming :D I'll hopefully update later
