Be in the credits and the new E3

If you'd like to be in the credits for Venture Arctic, I've just started a thread over on our forums about fan-contributed Animal Facts.
THE THREAD
If you contribute facts (on our forums, not here in this thread), and I use your fact in the game, I'll put your name in the credits.
Please see the forum thread for submission instructions.

Did you hear about GamePro Expo, the new E3? Not sure why the blogosphere didn't really light up about this one...
E3 died because the big publishers were spending craploads of cash but the little publishers were just as likely to get press attention from the event. E3 was a democratizing event. The big pubs were subsidizing the press attention of the small ones (like GarageGames, MumboJumbo, etc). While I never really LIKED E3, it was a good thing for our industry.
OK, so E3 didn't die, it was just scaled back to an invite only, closed door event for the big publishers. But from the ashes rises GamePro Expo. It will also be in the LA Convention Center and it will be in October 2007. It will only be half the size of E3, but that's cool, it needs time to grow. And now the big publishers have to deal with TWO conventions. SUCKERS! The funny thing about this timing is that October is the beginning of the release schedule for the holiday season. So games that are struggling to ship during that time period will also be struggling to clean up their GPE demo! Man am I glad I don't work on that side of the tracks anymore...

I don't think they'll totally ignore it. They won't spend the craploads of cash on it this time around, but in the end, they are in just the same hole they've always been in.

I think what would be better than an animal trivia contest would be a developer trivia contest. For example, did you know that Donnie was the key grip on the movie "Cool Runnings"?

That's a great point, Phil. I like the idea of conventions; a group of like minded individuals coming together. However, most of the people who have business at conventions aren't people like me, dispite the fact its all for the same industry. Regardless, thanks for the hot tip, Andy. Its interesting news.I think what would be better than an animal trivia contest would be a developer trivia contest. For example, did you know that Donnie was the key grip on the movie "Cool Runnings"?

Honestly, I would love to see a HUGE even that grabs the game press by the ear for Indie developers.

This could be good for Indies if the price is low enough. Honestly, I would love to see a HUGE even that grabs the game press by the ear for Indie developers.

It's not really at the scale that indie games will get press out of, but smaller/mid-sized dev shops will see benefit. Which is a good thing for the industry...

I dunno, I have to laugh at the shenanigans of the "industry", because it doesnt follow any rational goals I know of.
