Welp, I'm back (whoo!) from Canada. Didnt really work out as expected at Relic, which is a shame, but now I'm back home at Team17, raring to let loose on the V12 etc.
I also got a gig writing a small part of a new AI gems book, which is pretty fun, and I'll be using the tools I develop for that chapter to create part of some new game idea's Ive been throwing around in my head.
I'll also team up with some friends soon to try and make a few fun games to try and push myself and be part of some fun stuff at the same time.

While I do not post often, I have followed your move from Team17 to Relic (and now apparently back?) with interest. You appear to be one of only two "industry" level contributors on here, outside of Scott Miller (not including the GG employees themselves of course!) and I'm always interested in hearing what insiders have to relate from their own experiences.
Did the immigration hassles kill your chances? I know they can be be very stringent and restrictive but I honestly did not feel our Canadian immigration agency was as hard to bypass as say the INS down in the States. I'd certainly be interested in hearing about your own general experience with immigration, as I am flying down for an interview in the U.S. and am more than likely facing some similar obstacles.

David: it just didnt really work out for me, It wasnt the best time to move to vancouver though, as there is a transit strike on there (for 3 months), so getting somewhere to live was a real pain. And I initially was living somewhere that REALLY wasnt safe :(
Ken: I didnt think the immigration to Canada was all that bad. I expect the INS would actually be a lot worse. It took about 3 weeks overall, worst part of which was going down to london to the embassy and waiting in the line to hand my application in.
I'll definitely visit Canada again, but for a holiday :))
So right now, I'm pretty happy sorting my life back out and trying to get on with work :)
