About the author

[gge_user=Clint The Brewer] My first job in this industry was in technical support at Borland. I supported TASM, BC5, the first CBuilder, the first JBuilder, and various other products. I then had the luck of working for the good master Orion Elenzil at Haptek for about 5 years, making virtual friend 2, 3, 4, PeoplePutty, Kate, Stan Lee Media\'s Mongorr (a 3d desktop version of the comic character) and many other things. I worked with small teams of 0 - 5 other programmers for each project. Sudenly, a magic tornado picked me up and dropped me at NVIDIA in the Developer Technology group helping people make their games work as smoothly as I could. My work earned some game credits from the kind people at People Can Fly and EA Blackbox. I got to work with a lot of other great games like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Myst, etc. All and all it was a magical experience. I\'m currently working part-time on my new game company UnEarthed Games. Well it\'s more of a game proprietorship...no... it is a lone craftsmans workshop deep in the forest...a wild bearded man in a cave... It\'s just me seeing what one man with a little creativity and infinite time can accomplish on the RPG front. I\'m always on the look out for any short term Game Related Contract Work. If you think my skills could be of service lets talk: services@unearthedgames.com In May 2006 I finished up about 6 months of contract work with Orion Elenzil and all the Evil Twins over at Doppelganger working on graphics, scripting, tools, code, and getting artists up to speed on torque pipeline and what you can do with torque for the PCDMusic Lounge view profile »

whew done for the day. I don't know what it topped out at, the SF server was pushing 150 people, and I think SF and miami never got bigger than about 80 people.

"on screen you posted it's beta 4, but in real it's beta 5. but anyway, I just love your project!"
heh yep that's the same screen I posted last plan, hadn't taken any from today yet, it doesn't really look different though, more gameplay/ behind the scene tweaks for beta 5. But I couldn't post a plan without some eyecandy, nobody would read it :)

" can you share a bit how did you organized the online streaming of music?"
we are using FMOD to do the streaming. We use triggers to tell when to cross fade the streams that are playing. Each server has the same streams right now, but there are about 4 or 5 different streams going in different rooms. We have DJ's do different sets for us and change them all the time. Anything particular you wanted to know about the technical side of it?

NooOOooOOOOooooo...clint, you've gone to the dark side! Why the Pussycat Dolls, why???

Heh, just teasing, thats a pretty cool project, a great achievement, even if it is centred around the Spice Girls ver 2.0. ;)

Sad to hear about Unearthed Gods though, I followed your progress with interest. My AI stuff is heavily inspired by what you wrote.

Well, good luck with your endeavors, hope you get back to RPG-stuff eventually.

haha yes Gareth, you can't complain when people pay you to develop your virtual club world though :)
it's definitely been interesting, they are really nice. and so many interesting challenges making this so far!

well the UnEarthed Gods are NOT dead. I was just working on it this weekend. I plan on finishing it. Glad to help with the AI stuff. I should share what I've done since then, I've developed it a bit further and it's still workign out nice...well so far.

thanks for the well wishes! I want to get back to RPGs too. gotta force myself to make more time!

Thats good to hear Clint. :)

I hope you manage to find the time, I know how difficult it is juggling a full time programming job and personal game dev. Damn this frail human bodies need to sleep!

And I'd love to read more about what you've done since your last update. :)

Keep the RPG flame alive brutha!

Hey Clint, I'm not sure if I you are the one who came into IRC and talked with us about pcd.
But I'm looking at your fantastic work on this project and reading about how you'ld like to do an RPG sometime.
Alot of our community members have commented on how fantastic of a job you've done with this, and how it's kinda sad you don't have time to make your dream RPG.

So go ahead and register at mydreamrpg.com (if you haven't already done so) and then PM Tom or xclondx and have them look at this thread per my request. I'll take it from there.
We'll help you get you a jumpstart on your RPG :)

Regards,
Dreamer

Hi Dreamer, wasn't me on IRC, I'm sort of IRC phobic.

Thanks for the comments and offer for help. I'm actually a good way along on a single player RPG UnEarthed Gods check it out. www.unearthedgames.com I know it's difficult to tell from the screenshots I have there, but if you check out my other plan blogs here and posts in the dev diary you can get an idea of where I'm at.

Pretty much all of the RPG specific code I need is in there, although some more custom stuff will surely come before it's done. Right now I'm at the stage where all the content just has to be finished, and the story worked on...which is sort of a fun place to be, although a different challenge.

Thanks!
