Gameplay videos, to introduce the a new dynamic duo.

It is truly amazing the talent that's gravitated to this community!

Observe, gameplay footage from three brand shiny new skins from a new art studio I've been working with the past couple weeks:

"Caribbean"

"Spooky" (Just in time for Halloween!)

I received the first concept sketch for the first skin on 9/23. I got a gameplay video on 9/26. On 9/28 I was playing it. Subsequent skins have arrived even faster!

These new skins, and hopefully quite a few more, are the work of Jan-Ove Leksell, and Torbjorn Leksell of Narcissistic Studios. You may have seen Jan-Ove's blog post a couple weeks back. :)

These guys are a really amazing duo! They had no problem adapting to Level Builder, and even producing the particle effects for their skins. They even went so far as to benchmark the skins to make sure the particle effects weren't too intensive! And on top of that, they were able to figure out my hastily thrown together "documentation" on how to build and configure a skin without even having to ask me for clarification once. (I'm a HORRIBLE tech-writer, so that's quite an accomplishment!)

On a side note, just prior to working with these guys, I finally managed to profile my TGB build running my game. It turns out I'm spending 80% of my time calculating and rendering particles. And that's WITH the batch-rendering patch. Ouch. Needless to say, I spent some time fiddling with the particle effects and making them less intensive.
