The Gathering Storm...

Hi everyone,
Most of you have probably never run into me before, but I have actually been around the GarageGames community for a fairly long time. Some people (Paul Dana, Joe Maruschak), may remember me as the creator of a rather interesting (I think!) space shooter game.
Anyways, all these long years later, I'm finally mobilizing to actually finish the beast (in theory, anyway), and am looking towards torque as the engine for the job. But enough of that game for a while, the engine shift and subsequent learning period will likely lead to no results until at least Christmas. But enough of that, currently I'm much closer to the end of a shorter range project.
My current project is a puzzle game using a fun little engine called GameMaker 6, which I bought for around $20 USD at www.gamemaker.nl . I like to mix up the bag and try out a new game engine every once in a while, and GameMaker caught my eye as a possible platform for a puzzle game. At this point I'd like to show an image of my current project.

please excuse the sorry state of the gentleman on the right, he's in a self-improvement phase ;). The game, titled Sandstorm at the moment, is basically an odd combination between bejeweled and chess, which I think could be mildly entertaining if done right! Rest assured, the game is not as near completion as it appears... I got carried away and finished many of the art assets before I even began programming.
However, more than two thirds of the basic functionality is already there, so I have come some distance in finishing it up. last of course will be adding some polish, and area in which GameMaker has been somewhat lacking but I hope has improved in the latest version.
That's all for now, feedback would be very much appreciated, and I hope to post more in the future!
Thanks,
Loler
