Finding the proper style

I went on a testing rampage using some of the absolutely wonderful content packs here on the site.
I really can't say to you how badly I think you should check them out - you can find a use for them in ways you never even may have figured.
I used a few things here, Dungeon Pack, GG's Car TSE demo, and the RTS pack (also put him in Atlas terrain to see how purdy it looked)
Please know this: The character still does need some work, and we're going to be tuning him up (big thanks to Silouette Studios for making him from scratch to finish)
Definately check them out if you want to get a head start on your game. Anyway:
Cartoony Style

Realistic Style

and just for fun, RTS:

By using these 3 things, I was able to get a better idea for the style of my game. They all look great, and I have decided upon a perfect style, a blend of everything.
Once the character gets some great looking textures, as well as a few polygons bumped up, he'll look good in a Kameo styled realistic-yet-cartoony enviorment.
So a blend of all styles.
I was rather surprised that the character, as cartoony and crazy as he may be, look pretty darn good in a realistic enviorment. So, that's just a blog I decided to post, showcasing how I wanted the style of the game to be in a quick few minutes using some content packs.
I'm always looking for help on this project, so always always always be sure to send me an E-Mail that you want to help out. We DO need you.

He doesn't look too bad with a crossbow either. Maybe a more... metallic one i guess, but none the less.

Cool stuff, i definetely think he fits into the cartoony world more then any of the others.

The cartoony environments from Canons pack fit him best.

If the plan is to give him a little more shading so he's not so flat, I'd think he'd look pretty good in the darker worlds. I bet he'd be right at home in a slightly cartoony/stylized version of the TSE demo warehouse. :)

They look like Retrovoid's vacation photos. "Here I am by the lava flow. The tour guide said the lava ran over 1000 degrees centegrade. I don't know if that's accurate, but I tell you what, I got stinking hot in that purple rubber suit." - if for some reason, while using a realistic environment there are somes "mistakes" in the art, it will ruin the whole game design. A glitch in a cartoonish like environment will look like something planned.

I would keep on the cartoonish side for one sigle reason:- if for some reason, while using a realistic environment there are somes "mistakes" in the art, it will ruin the whole game design. A glitch in a cartoonish like environment will look like something planned.

Mark, I suggest you ask the artist who made the character concepts to make some concept arts for the levels.Christophe

Just finished the Cyger Pistol: A few texture issues, but nothing that's too hard to fix :)
