Step #1: Familiarize self with C# and all of its DirectX workings. Get C++ version of renderer ported over. Analyze RocketCommander and Spacewar.
Step #2: Prototype ship combat / Prototype fantasy combat using test objects. Make decisions about project direction (tactical fantasy or submarine space). Get billboards and mesh rendering online since those features will be used for both.
