OK, so what is needed for a role playing, real time strategy first person experience.
Firstly lets define what the world will be like, what species there wil be, the environment, and all other "game design" issues.
As soon as V12 is availiable a lot would probably have to be changed, but keeping the design apart from engine limitations allows for a much more creative experience.
How hard can it be to create randomly generated maps in 3D ? Diablo style !! Very little repeated playfields should keep players busy a while longer.
How about questing for specific items ?
How about a RPG system that effects the way the player moves around in the game world ?
And then there's controlling other beings RTS style.
With games crossing over all genre bounds, let's see if we can throw them all into one, allowing the player to approach situations in any game fashion.
