SHELLCORE Revealed!

by Kevin James · 08/07/2006 (5:20 pm) · 3 comments

SHELLCORE is a top-down tank shooter that I have been working on for the past 2 weeks or so. It is still in the beta stages though, and I hope to improve upon it very much till I dub it: finsished. I made it somewhat for the purpose of getting back into the swing of T2D and getting used to TGB. The levelbuilder simplified many tasks that consumed a lot of my time before with just plain old T2D. My heartfelt thanks to the TGB team and everyone in the community who pitched in to answer one of my questions or help me along with a problem!

Make sure you read the readme, for keys and hints that will help very much.

Here's a link to a thread in the TGB private forums. (You must have TGB in order to see the thread.)

Thanks!

High score of 900 then I got hit by 4 trucks at once. I had enough fun to play it a few times so you are definately on to something. The only thing that nagged me was the brightness of the sand, I ended up darkening it really quick so I could see the tracers from the machine gun. Keep it up and I look forward to seeing it once it is finished.

At the basic level its kinda fun. Suggestions would be a radar for offscreen targets, make the tank a little quicker on the acceleration, some sound effects and some obstacles to hide behind. I agree with Ryan - too hard to see the tracers over the light sand background. Keep it up and have fun with it!

Ryan and Tom,

Thanks for the suggstions, guys! Everything that you've said has been said about the game before, so I will definetly make darker sand, a radar (hopefully), and improved AI in conjunction with obstacles on the map. I plan on having some different gameplay options such as Town Takedown, where you wreak havoc on a terrorist hideout, maybe some actual missions, and Swarm which is the work in progress that you played.

Thanks again, and glad you enjoyed Shellcore!
