cinema4d->max->torque

by Mikey · 07/25/2006 (6:16 am) · 8 comments

i have cinema4d, 3ds max and maya and out of all of them max is the best to export to torque. But if your like me cinema 4d is way easier to use. Thus you can build your models in cinema4d and export them as a 3ds file. Then just import that into max and add a bounds box,dts exporter(free download just google it) and there you go.

For static meshes, you can export to OBJ from C4D and then use obj2dts. Of course, if you are rigging and animating, you would want to use Max after import (or FBX or Collada with tweaks if C4 supports them--I believe it does, but I do not know since I do not use it).

You do realize that neither you (or they) can use academic versions for commercial purposes, right?

Dude! I wouldn't have the resources to own both cinema 4d and 3ds max!
I used to work from XSI 4.0 -> Blender -> Torque... after the distributor refused to update me to 4.2, I stepped up me skill in Blender.
Now.. I work this way Blender -> Torque !!!! :D Yay! and there are lot of blender resources in GG's forum!

I don't think we are allowed to use student edition for commercial purposes in Australia.. oh well.....

Anyway, I wish you all the best in your project!

Does anyone know how to import a fully rigged and animated Cinema4d character to max? I keep getting "Initial Pose" error and a ruined skeleton after exporting.
I don't have enough skills in Max to make the character for there s I have to use C4d... the problem, I didn't fine ANY way to export (directly or indirectly) from C4d to Dts...

can anyone help?
