Overlord II Released!

by Jacob Fike · 07/24/2006 (11:49 pm) · 5 comments

That's right, it's finally arrived. You can see the enormous changelog in my previous .plan. License owners can download it now. For anyone who has not purchased a license yet, you can check out the live demo, read the FAQ, or go ahead and purchase a license for only $19.95.

Next up is 'Return of Overlord', with even more awesomeness than this release! Here's a preliminary list of features:

* Custom user ranks
* Complete control over permissions
* Per-project user lists
* Private Messages
* File manager, including attachments
* Project Calendar
* Activity Reports
* Added functionality to event logger
* More JavaScript UI spiffyness
* Maybe more

Also on the horizon is a website overhaul. I am going to make it easier to see what Overlord is and how it can help you.

Last, but certainly not least, a big THANK YOU to everyone who has bought Overlord so far. I know it took a while, but I hope you enjoy version 2.0!

Great job Jacob. I will be purchasing my license when I get home from work today. I have looked at, tested and used several project management / task tracking tools over the years (from expensive enterprise level systems to small custom single page bug tracking lists). Your assessment of other project management apps in your FAQ is dead on. For my current personal projects I have considered many but most are expensive or have unreasonable license agreements (not to mention the better ones are hosted solutions -- I prefer to keep my project data local). My final option looked like it was going to be writing my own solution. Your price for the license is worth well more than the time it would take me to write my own. Like many here I could create a similar system for free, but the savings in TIME is invaluable.

Congratulations with your successful launch of Overlord II and thanks for making this product available!

I got this when trying to access the Projects Section in the demo:

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to a member function namelinktt() on a non-object in /home/overlord/public_html/demo/core/views/en/projects/_project.php on line 11

I have been finding a lot of errors recently related to differences in php 4 and 5, as well as other server configurations. I have fixed them all in the .zip file, and will update the demo as well.
