GarageGames, Inc. is now actively seeking a Production Assistant intern for Fall of 2006. Interning at GarageGames is not only awesomely fun, it's a great way to get your foot in the door of the video game industry. The video game industry is a rapidly growing field in need of talented individuals.

The team at GarageGames will teach you the craft as practiced in the industry - you will be able to learn the particular way it's done here as well as all the possible ways to do it. Interning isn't glamorous, and it doesn't pay anything, but it's a great way to get the foot in the door, have some fun, and learn the ropes. Not only do you gain valuable experience in the working world, you will also make contacts in the industry who will come in handy when you are looking to secure permanent work.

This internship is for regular office hours and we are flexible on hours and scheduling exact dates.

Responsibilities would include:

-Assisting in day to day managing and organizing of internal projects
-Task tracking
-Light business development
-Jack of all Trades

A strong background in either Programming, Art, or both is highly recommended.

At GarageGames, we like having interns around because they always have cool ideas, fresh perspectives, and lots of energy. It's fun to bring new people into the office, and we can always use help with all the projects we have going. GarageGames is a small and intimate company, so you can always gain help and experience from seasoned industry veterans while working on real projects, not just be the "coffee" guy. Non-local Interns at GarageGames get free housing located in Downtown Eugene, OR in our famous GG Apartment (includes free cable net connection, utilities). The apartment is located right by the University of Oregon, and the area is teeming with things to do, nightlife, food, and general entertainment venues. The GG office is about a 20 minute walk from the GG Apartment. Parking is available for interns who have their own transportation.

Interning at GarageGames is also the fastest way to employment here. In the past two years, we have hired thirteen interns who have come through our program!

"As some of you know I graduated about 3 months ago and have since been interning up here at GarageGames. First of all if anyone is considering apply for an internship and debating whether or not it would be worth it, I highly recommend you do, if only for the added experience. In just a couple months you can learn a great deal as well as being up here with some awesome and incredible people (which I'm sure I don't have to tell you). Also GG lets interns work on some very cool projects as well as taking your input as serious as anyones. Pretty much what you'd expect from GG."

New associates are joining the ranks!

Please welcome our two newest associates: Alex Rice & Ben Vesco! Be sure to pat them on the back. Their contributions to the GarageGames community have not gone unnoticed.

Associates are members of the community who have selflessly contributed their work and knowledge for the benefit of all. Being an associate is more than just an honorary recognition of one's accomplishments, however. Associates are expected to continue to support the community by sharing their knowledge in the forums and having patience with those who are new to development. In this way they help to provide the independent development community with far more help and support than the GarageGames staff could alone.
Associates are also often able to work closely with the GarageGames crew on new technologies and projects, including signing NDAs to test or work on new projects prior to their release.

Several new content packs are coming down the pipe in the near future. In addition to the recently released Skeleton Pack (awesome for LightWave Users), in the near future we'll be seeing two new packs from Games Extract, the Arcane FX pack, the TGB Tile Pack and more!

Contents packs are a great way to sell art & code and generate royalties. GarageGames is currently looking to boost up portfolio of products over the next year as we revamp our content store, so we are looking for the best of the best of code packs, art packs, and starter kits. If your currently developing a content pack of any type or size, for any technology (2D or 3D!), I seriously recommend looking into publishing at GarageGames. If you want to hear more about the publishing process at GG, please drop me a line anytime at tima@garagegames.com. Can't wait to see how many cool things are being developed out there.

Indie Games Con is coming up once again and will be here before you know it. IGC is being moved to the Chambers Media Center this year for accomodate for it's growing attendance without sacrificing that important "close-knit" indie feel. Online Registration is now open, and if you hvaen't attended before and have thought about it, this is the year to do so. Tickets are way cheaper if you buy them in advance! www.garagegames.com/products/20

Seriously, IGC is too much fun. Just ask anyone. The stories that came out of last year's IGC alone were worth the price of admission, not counting the sessions, presentations, and show-off center. Who wouldn't want to see a certain anonymous TGB Development Manager get on stage after having a few beers and tell the entire conference how great he thought they were? Good times.

Other than these things, GG is moving forward as fast as we can on as many fronts as we can handle at once. We have some awesome things going on, and it's pretty damn cool to see TSE & Constructor come together behind the scenes. I have shared job responsibilties these days, but I'm still cranking on art in addition. The future looks good. :-)
