Hello good people!
As an indie developer, I often find it difficult to maintain my focus and drive as I work on a project. Too often I find myself failing to reach my real goals, instead accomplishing some small feat and losing interest after a short time. This must stop!
I remember the good ol' days, back in high school (95-99), when I had a number of talented and experienced friends showing me the ropes, explaining things when I was stuck, and generally saving me from my own ignorance. In addition to their knowledge, their very presence pushed me forward. I wanted to excel, I wanted to prove myself. Without the help of those few, I may have (gasp) never become a programmer.
To re-iterate, I work best when surrounded by like-minded individuals. I've never felt more energy than I had on the flight back from IGC last october. Just seeing all the progress that these people were making on their respective projects, I felt the urgency to really start focusing on my own. Now, 10 months have passed and I have little to show for it. Something must be done!
Therefore, I would like to determine the interest in the D.C. area to get all the torque developers together once or twice a month, a very informal gathering.
Please post here or email me if you are interested.
Thanks and good luck!

Yeah, I'm doing similar in the UK too. I feel your pain, but I've found good people to work with since IGC.

I love the energy bursts after conferences. Man, I'm due for one. Can't wait for October.

I hope you find a good crew. I just moved from College Park (born and raised in Laurel/Columbia area) to San Fran. I'll keep this .plan in my favorites folder - I'd love to hang with you guys when I go back (for visits, at least).I love the energy bursts after conferences. Man, I'm due for one. I'm in Ellicott City. Would definately be interested in meeting other Torque developers in the area. Please keep me in the loop if you decide to do anything.
