Right I did a little research today concerning how to pull of a random name generator.
As far as i know it looks like this:
<1><2><3><4> (continuing on until desired number of variables are reached)
<1>
<1>
<1>
<1>
<1>
<1>
<1> (First variables such as a sylable or a word)
<2>
<2>
<2>
<2>
<2>
<2>
<2> ( could put punctuation, another sylable, depends on the generator your going for)
Basically it continues in this manner, you just fill in the blanks. Actually pretty basic.
However, how Am I going to run it. And once I have this thing how will I implement it.
Basically in this case <1> will be a landscape type <2> will be a space (" ") then <3> is the proposition such as Of, below, inside etc. <4> is the next space (" ") and then we have numbers <5>, <6>, <7> etc as alot of randomised sylabls. With possibly a couple of punctuation marks such as hyphons etc. These sets of syllables will make up the name of the place, and chosen at random spliced together, you get the idea. So at tyhe end we get somthing like
"Mountains of Arak'pur"
Weather or not the landscape generated looks like a mountain, is not really reliable. Maybe we could do somthing about that? I dont know.

Another method for making place names is to construct compund words. If you look at the names for WoW, a lot are simple compound words that contain a physical feature. Darkshire, Redridge, Blackrock Spire, Plaguelands, Felwood, etc. These are all essentially a feature and a prefix.

You definitely want some variation. You don't want everything to be the [feature] of [random name]. Use a few different formulas and mix it up a bit.
