Game Dev School website rolling along

Heya folks,

Long time member, first time... blogger. Yeah, I'm a lurker. :P

I decided to fire up a blog post here and point people at a recent website I finally put together after years of pondering. GameDevSchool.com is a project I've been considering for a long while to accumulate a lot of my game development and design research info. I've been creating games for a long time and I often lose track of many links or articles after they're no longer current to my work... I don't like that. Instead of losing this stuff, I decided it would be far better to come up with a documentation scheme that would allow me to search through stuff later, as well as share goodies with others. Ain't I nice?

Yes. I am nice.

Another goal of the site is to post a resource about game development schools and their programs. I'm a member of the Colorado IGDA chapter and have been participating in professional advisory committees for area colleges/schools doing game dev degrees. Over some 10 years of Colorado Game Developers Assn. meetings, I've become somewhat of a mentor for students coming to the meetings. I've been answering some of the same questions so many times, it's another genre of info I wanted to start posting about and just pointing people to it. There are a ton of schools doing game development courses now and I hope to help people on both sides of the podium be more informed about "the real industry" they're teaching/learning about.

So, hopefully others will find use in articles posted over there on occasion. I know GG is an immensely fantastic resource on its own, but I figured there might be some interested in what's going on elsewhere, too. I know I can't get my fill even at a great community site like GG!

Well, I don't really want to be a "me too" kind of thing, but maybe you'll find something of interest in my little bloggy "journal" thing I've got over there. If you want to sign up for an account and post comments/feedback about articles and topics, that would be fantastic, too! I'm working on content voting/rating as well as community-driven content sections... all in due time.

Thanks,
Paul Hoza
