starting with tgb

I do own the TGB license for some time now, but up until now I just could not find the time to really get into it. I was taking notes in the train on my way to work, scribbling down gameplay ideas, revising stuff on my way back home.

Motivation... well, I programm the whole day at work, so my motivation to go home, spend time with the family and then go back to programming wasn't that high during the last few months. But the gameplay ideas that are going through my head lately look more promising to me now. It's time to start putting those ideas into code.

Starting slowly... ok, I was good at math in school, but that's like 12 years ago or so. Calculating vectors, angles, distances, matrices and other stuff, ... ugh! It's a little frustrating: I know more or less what I want to get in the end ("how it should play like"), but simple things like those somehow put stones in your way. But that's not going to stop me, it's all coming back to me (the math stuff I mean), I just have to keep me motivated and interested.

btw, that's my first blog entry ever, I dont know if anybody is going to read this at all. I hope I can post some screenshots of my progress soon, currently I'm just kind of prototyping away... and getting to know Torque Script along the way, which isn't bad I guess.

the game I'm going to do is a puzzle/shooter mix. more on that later!

also, I wondered if there are any other Torque users from Switzerland around?

that's all for today,
thanks for reading
Nicolas
