Vron Software goes with TGE

This is the first Plan for Vron Software. To introduce myself, my name is Norv Brooks and I've been working on computer games since the days of the Atari 800. Most of the time I've worked on my own speculative projects. In the early 90's I worked with Avalon Hill Game Co. to convert their popular bordgame "Advanced Civilization" to a computer game. It enjoyed a modest amout of succes until it ran into legal problems with Micropose. In 2001 I had a short-lived contractual arrangement with Talonsoft a Take Two Interactive game company.
My current project, "SmokeJumpers" has gone through a few technological iterations trying to create my own game engine in C++. I became interested in the Torque Game Engine in late 2005 and signed on as a "Indie" license at the end of December 2005. I feel encouraged with what I've been able to accomplish so far; although, I'm still very much in the period of familiarizing myself with TGE. I have a very loose target date of completing "SmokeJumpers" by the end of 2006.
ABOUT "SMOKEJUMPERS"
In SMOKEJUMPERS you lead a squad of smokejumpers from minor wildfire assignments to becoming an Elite Team of smokejumpers in command of major wildfire assignments.
Play the game at the skill level of a Novice, a Rookie, a Veteran or an Expert.
Also, you can play a Campaign game with the objective of building an Elite Team of smokejumpers, or take on individual wildfire assignments in the Scenario mode.
At your base camp you can manage your team. You can establish a training facility to improve the team's skills. Protect their health and care for injuries in the base hospital & gym. Buy equipment or research & manufacture improved equipment.
Hire new smokejumpers to build of your team progressing up through bigger and more difficult wildfire assignments.
Earn Resource and Public Relations Points by successfully fighting a wildfire. Smokejumpers gain experience points through their wildfire involvement progressing up through the ranks of Line Boss to Commander III.
Thanks for your consideration!

Chris - thanks for your interest. I have created tables for the fire behavior back when I was creating my own game engine. I haven't visited that data for awhile and I have to first work out how I will be able to script the fire behavior for TGE.Doug - also, thanks for the interest. Unfortunately, it looks like you have to cut & paste the website address. It doesn't work as a link. Sorry!

Just curious, would you be willing to share your plans for fire behavior? I've thought about that a lot but have so far failed to act on it. Also, ever think about marketing this to USFS as a training sim? Seems like a serious potential funding option.
Looks like a great idea, good luck with it!!
