I am done with the base level mesh layout and texturing and will move to populating the scene with a couple of props. The tile suggestion actually works well and makes sense, so, thank you Zoidy. I've worked on it this weekend so I am a little tired looking at it so moving to a new scene for modeling the props should give me a break and a fresh eye when I return.

Work on The Thing progressed a wee bit since the last post. And, might I add, it moves more and more away from the unavoidable association with the movie / game. I was worried for a second there :)

As far as I understand and approach this challenge, everything is in the way one can achieve an environment that really depicts the two words 'end game' and the meaning behind them. Lighting is the key factor in this matter and I plan on working on this aspect the most throughout this experiment.

Joined kind of late here but I am hoping to finish in time my entry. Here's my take on this challenge: a simple environment, as simple as it can be, with a point of interest that really draws the attention, just like the rules say : )

In the summer of 2004 I met with a couple of people who desired to make a game company. It was a laughable experience, nobody new squat about what that means or implies, in every sense of the word. Everybody was talking about everything else and nobody seemed to ...

I am leaving. Not only this awesome community but game development in general. I want to get back to my roots and enjoy painting again. Is that simple...

My website over at www.editmygame.com is still under development as I moved it from godaddy servers and Matt Summers is working on the new custom layout. The new version will have the old packs as well as something new: support for more engines (Torque or not) and SVN access for clients. Also the development will slowly move from mere models to prototypes and workshops (like a pack, a guide and a game idea all in one) at very reasonable fees.

A while ago someone approached me with a project that require realtime rendering and interaction with 3d models. Obviously, he needed a game engine even though the project was not an actual game and so we started talking about it.

I decided to post here since the marketplace is gone. I have some minor projects going on, mostly architecture, so I decided to spice up the day with a bit of game artwork. If you require such work, regardless your game development stage (from concept to beta stages) I might be able to help a bit. What I can do:

Somebody loves hacking, don't know exactly what feels one when at work (computer geek love or banal hate towards bad looking websites), thus my confusion, should I title this somebody loves it or somebody hates it?

I am hoping to post soon a blog, a development blog, here on Garage Games; I do keep a development blog somewhere else but for the moment is just there for myself to help me keep track of what I achieved (or not). For now..

How does one keep from "growing old inside"? Surely only in community. The only way to make friends with time is to stay friends with people…. Taking community seriously not only gives us the companionship we need, it also relieves us of the notion that we are indispensable. Robert McAfee Brown
