Warscale 57 - A morale lifting gift (updated)

The last week I decided to focus in creating new spells and boy should I know where I has heading then I should have just stayed with the creatures. Update - The artist behind the Forget spell denied his permission to use his art so I have updated the art for a spell.

Warscale 56 - Fast and furious

I know I promised you all to let you in peace for at least a couple of weeks but what can I say... I was inspired...

Warscale 55 - To rewrite or not to rewrite

Sometimes you get one of those ideas for your game that won't leave your head and wont let you sleep and you resist implementing it as it will break everything. But the more you think about it it becomes more and more interesting and suddenly you are in love with it.

Warscale 54 - Skeletons, first spells and first artifact!

I have been busy playing with my son new train (usually while he was playing with his laptop) but managed to gather some time and work on Warscale. Low res video included!

Warscale 53 - Creatures finished!

It has been about 10 days since my last weekly update, so I'm proud to announce... another update.

Warscale 52 - On being too late

Sometimes destiny can foul play you but this one is a really low blow. However I don't plan to stop and as a proof here is a first batch of creatures fully working in the game. If you want to see an adult crying then keep reading.

Tightrope walking

This is a large block of text that some may find interesting but little will finish and less will write a comment. This is about my train of thought in my way to underestand the complexity of my own game. You have been warned. Should you decide to continue, I wont be held responsible of any jaw dislodgement due to heavy yawning.

Warscale 51 - As good as air

Where the hero of this tale fights hordes of bugs while rehauling all the game UI for a faster gameplay and wonders how is he going to create a texture of air.

Warscale 50 - Cards on the table

On the last episode, our hero (that would be me) was fantasizing about how he was going to be easy to create 15 creatures in a week. Unfortunately, the reality is a whole different thing. But our hero always has a card on the sleeve.

Warscale 49 - 4 new staffs and a hat request

A wizard needs a hat. If anybody would like to send me one I will create a new magic item and you will be able to set the hat abilities. Your name will appear near the hat in the equipment editor.

Warscale 48 - Terrain elements and more equipment

The last two weeks were all about the terrain and I think I made a good progress. I also created 2 more items and updated the game interface. Judge yourself.

Warscale 47 - Making it simple is not so simple

My wife was sent to the US for a conference. This means she left me with my son which is a lot of work but it also means that, after my son went to bed, I was free to do whathever I wanted... like (without anything better to do) programming my game.

Warscale - Keeping it simple

If you have a sword then you can have a mace, and a morning star, and a staff, and a bow, and a crossbow, and throwing daggers, and shurikens and sais and daggers. But then a sword is not enough and then you need a Katana, a sabre, a falchion, a two handed sword. And of course each weapon requires its own animation system because you are not going to fight with a bow the same way you do with a sword. Do you see the problem?

Warscale 45 - Teaching new tricks to an old dog

Some people say you cant teach new tricks to an old dog but fortunately TGE is an very flexible old dog.

Warscale 44 - You cant always win...

I usually post everytime I have something to show but in this case Im posting to comment about my failure. I guess a blog should be about what you did right and what your did wrong. On the end you learn more on your mistakes than your successes.

Warscale 42 - A day of good luck

I guess everybody has got one of those days when everything goes wrong and I can say Im quite used to those days around me. But today I want to talk about one day when everything goes fine. Granted, this is an extremely strange occurrence like a full planetary alignment but now I know it can happen.

Warscale 41 - Quick blog

Many small updates to the game interface. Now I have no more excuses not to start creating equipment... sure...

Warscale 41 - Starwars, Startrek, space-time and Warscale

I really love reading other people blogs and I know you do too... so I guess the conclusion is that you should start reading other people blogs and stop reading this one... is just logical...

Warscale 40 - Handling weapons

What is the blade compared to the hand which wields it?... Those words show that Thulsa Doom was indeed a cleric of incredible wisdom. Unfortunately it also says that Thulsa Doom was not a game programmer.

Warscale 39 - The perfect view

Im not a FPS guy. I have made a couple of frags in my time and I really love the FEAR and HL series, but its not my favorite game type. For me, games should look less like real life simulations and more like board games.
