The View Contest - Contest #3

by Geoff Beckstrom · 02/14/2012 (4:57 pm) · 35 comments

All right community it’s time for another weekly contest. This one is all about the view. No not some daytime talk show run by middle aged women in the US, and no not a Zen garden/day dream location for Friday afternoon. Rather how many views can you generate to a YouTube video promoting GarageGames and a Torque engine?

These last two weeks we have seen some AMAZING entries. This week instead of just sharing them with the community members we want to get your talents and creativity using Torque out to the rest of the world.
What you put in your video is up to you – shots of a game you’re working on, your idea for a particularly significant and well known football game commercial for GarageGames – get creative.

Here is what your video must have to qualify:
• A clear reference to GarageGames
• A clear reference to one of our engines – iT2D, T2D, or T3D
• A positive message about GarageGames

Beyond that what you come up with is up to you. The owner with their video embedded as a comment to this blog with the most views at 12:59 PM PST Friday February 17th will win $159 in first party store credit.

Finally a word from the legal department – all videos must follow YouTube’s rules of submission which means no objectionable material and no copyright violations. For this contest you have permission from GarageGames to use our company logo and the Torque engine logo. But you are responsible to ensure that whatever else you include in your video follows all applicable laws.

Game On!

EDIT: The video must be NEWLY posted (with 0 views) as of this week to qualify for the contest.

Hmmm, since I'm righting an blog entry on rapid prototyping in Torque 2D I guess I'll do a video on that. Seems like a good challenge for myself as well.

Hi guys, here comes Nitromsoft's entry. It's an entirely-made-in-Torque-2D video that shows some animations and first draft of gameplay of our upcoming freeware game and the last week's contest entry "Monopoly Monster".

We've just finished and uploaded the video, which is approximately three hours before the deadline so my guess is we won't make enough views even though we're sending it to some of our "friendly" gaming servers where we expect to hit few thousands of visitors...if only we had a day more.

Anyways, we're glad for the opportunity to preview our game which touches a very important topic and aims to remind people that it's not over.

So if you like the vid and the concept guys, feel free to share it wherever you want, if not for helping us win this contest, then for the sake of the matter. And before you send us to hell, stop for a moment and ask yourself...what would Jesus do? ;-)

Cheers,
Frantisek

I'll have to say, I would have lost if it wasn't for my classmates. I asked them all to view my video at the beginning of lecture and they pulled through. This was a fun contest and I will finally be able to afford Torque 3D on my starving college student budget. Thanks to GarageGames and everyone who viewed my video.

To GG guys,
why do not u guys arrange contest for more longer time period .same prize for a monthly contest.and in every month.so total will be 12 contests.u can announce an champion among this contest or can arrange an grand contest.i think that will make more appeal to forum members.also will force novice beginner to think seriously.also it can be used as a advertisement campaign for u with the same amount of cost.

One week is not long enough for an indie game developers with his limited resource.i think for indie idea is the most important thing for his game's success.and indie needs time to think about new ideas.

well, there are some professional studio guys, they are always capable to make a fantastic looking game in 3-4 days with their medium or big resource.they are capable to win this type of small contest
