Man this was nice maybe next time!

@Szzg007 - that looks very nice. Is it a model of a place you know or is it from your imagination?

@Eric - Our art guys didn't use a glow map for the eyes? For shame.@Szzg007 - that looks very nice. Is it a model of a place you know or is it from your imagination?

It will give people a chance to get some ideas of what they'd like to do, scale it to something reasonable for a one hour contest. And maybe gather up some textures for those who don't have an art background and a big art library to draw on.
But all real work must start for one hour only Friday, Feb. 10th at 12:00 PST (20:00 GMT).
ps. And, to the winner of the current contest - whoever it is - congratulations!

Hmmmm. I'd like to call "shenanigans" on posting up a contest on the day you have it! I would have LOVED to do this even if I didn't win! Didn't see this in the morning when I looked at the GG site (I'm up four hours before you guys got started) and when I check back later it is over :( So! How about if we do something like this NEXT Friday with a fabulous "no-prize" to the winner? Like everybody in GG has to send the winner an email picture of their favorite brew?It will give people a chance to get some ideas of what they'd like to do, scale it to something reasonable for a one hour contest. I think this game is not fair. GG news release when I am on the other half this time I go to sleep when I saw the information of the game, so the next day came home from work, so consider the time differenceand the Earth is round. game should have more time with the majority of the time zone.

I agree there's needs to be more notice about it.
Maybe announce when one is going to happen. Then on the day, announce a theme. (Like Game In a Day use to be)
Or just bring back GID and make it bigger!

I definitely would have liked to participate, but my first visit to GG of the day was just now. =( There were some pretty amazing entries though, so I most likely would have been out-classed. Good work everyone!

I like Szzg007's entry the best! If this is where entries were posted, just got back from hiking the woods and walking the beach, FTW!!

We would definitely like to hold more long-term contests in the future, though participation has been lax in the past. The response has been positive so far, though. We will definitely look at doing more long-term (in terms of allowing more people in different time-zones, etc) to have an opportunity. This one was specifically for the community hour so that we could communicate with anyone having difficulties, wanting feedback, etc while the GG team was watching and answering questions.

This contest was mostly a "just for fun" contest during our regularly scheduled community hour. We wanted to see what people were working on and if we could get people more involved during the hour. We came up with the contest idea on-the-fly for the community hour and did not mean to make people feel like they were left out of a lengthy, well-thought-out contest. We would definitely like to hold more long-term contests in the future, though participation has been lax in the past. David, I actually very much like the idea of coordinating contests with the Community hour (though people in non-US timezones may feel differently), but there simply wasn't enough warning ahead of time to schedule the hour into my day (which it otherwise would have been).

@Thomas - Stay tuned, I think you will see more. This idea was a water cooler conversation about two hours before community hour. I think in the future, we will run them as an hour long kickoff to a 24 hour contest. Running an hour long contest during PST lunch just doesn't give everyone around the world a fair chance to join us.

I just want to quickly echo Eric and David's comments. We generated this idea Friday morning in a brainstorming session on a new idea for community power hour. The fact that some of you submitted some amazing work knowing it was after the official contest deadline shows what a great community of Torque users we have. Thank you to everyone who shared some of their imagination and talent. Also a thank you to everyone who missed or wasn't able to participate during the specific hour who has let us know you would have interest in doing something in the future! Like Eric said - stay tuned!
