Torque X 3.1.5 Now Available!
Torque X 3.1.5 has been launched out the door. This release addresses a lot of bugs and usability issues resulting in a much better user experience and a smoother process for creating unique Xbox Live Indie Game titles. This release is available for free for all current owners of a Torque X product.
Like I mentioned in my previous blogs this new update to Torque X doesn't really introduce any new features other then bringing certain portions of our engine up-to-date with other offerings like updated DTS and Terrain support. Instead we wanted to really focus on making what we had a more stable and ultimately more usable product.
I also wanted to give a huge thanks to Matt and the guys over at Sickhead for doing the heavy lifting, Scott over in QA and Pino, Duncan, Henry and the rest of the Torque X community for working so hard to get things done.

There Can Be Only One
Coming full circle we decided to merge both the 2D and 3D into a single product offering. This makes purchasing and using Torque X a much simpler process. This was done for a couple reasons. We wanted to give something to the Torque X community who has waited awhile for Torque X to get some love and a new release that addressed a lot of their concerns to come out. Secondly we didn't feel that the 3D side of things justified an additional $250. Combining these two products also makes it easier to keep them in sync and address concerns that are related to the common engine core that they share.
For the next 30 days you can purchase Torque X for $200, after which the price will be $300 and as I mentioned contains 2D & 3D as well as the engine source.

It's All in the Details
Instead of flooding this blog message with the changes I decided to post them in a neat and tidy PDF. So without further ado here is the Torque X Certification report from QA for this launch: Torque_X_3.1.5_Certification.pdf

Windows Mobile 7
I've dropped Windows Mobile 7 hints previously but unfortunately I'm not ready to quite spill the beans yet on what we are working on. As we get further along in development I'll do my best to keep our community in the loop and share some of the cool stuff we are working on. All I can say for now is expect some cool tech and editors aimed at helping you deliver Windows Mobile 7 games quickly and easily.

Downloaded this earlier today and have playing with my sweet new copy of Torque X 3D. Which as far as I can tell is running like a champ. Thanks for putting in all the hard work.

Merging the two was an AWESOME idea, I can't wait to get working with TX again.

If the pricing's being re-worked and the 2D and 3D merged, what about those of us that bought both previously? I don't mind if that's just the price of early adoption, but as a mostly-broke college student, I gotta ask. :D

All very cool. Though of course, I'm going to have to ask the obvious question no-doubt on some of our strapped-for-cash minds:If the pricing's being re-worked and the 2D and 3D merged, what about those of us that bought both previously? I don't mind if that's just the price of early adoption, but as a mostly-broke college student, I gotta ask. :D

Well, I really hope that they will convert each one in a seat for the Studios so we'll have 2 Torque X seats ;)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't praying for the 2D and 3D products to be merged into one. I'm really psyched to have access to the 3D tools now. Thanks to whomever was involved in that decision at Torque Powered.
Thanks also to Scott and the QA team...none of these things come together without a solid group of troublemakers...I mean testers. :)
@Pino & Duncan & Henry - You guys rule! I've benefited in big ways from all of your guidance, your updates to the engine, and code you've sent me in various emails and forum posts. A big hand to all of you.

@Derek...awesome news. Glad to see a release for this product. I'm well into my game project which is a 2D game, and I will not be updating my build environment quite yet, but I'm still stoked that the product got some sweet lovin' from the team at Torque.I'd be lying if I said I wasn't praying for the 2D and 3D products to be merged into one. That was a long long list of bugs and issues, many of which I can say have not been touched in the last two years. Lets hope they keep TX in the regular Torque rotation.

I agree Pino as I own the two licenses, I could use another license for my son who is my collaborator, now that he's 300 miles away. That was a long long list of bugs and issues, many of which I can say have not been touched in the last two years. Lets hope they keep TX in the regular Torque rotation.

The demo download isn't working, just a heads up.

For those of you that already upgraded to studio you should see studio versions of Torque X in your account. Meaning if you upgraded both 2D and 3D you now have two seats of Torque X to assign for your projects.

For those of you that had both Torque X 2D and 3D you should now see two copies of Torque X in your product listing. Both of those copies are available for a license upgrade. Meaning you could upgrade both for a total of $25 and have two seats to Torque X, or you could simply upgrade one to Studio and keep the other one for yourself. For those of you that already upgraded to studio you should see studio versions of Torque X in your account. @Ian - Thanks, I almost forgot about that. This is the first time in while that we have created a new engine product in our web database and apparently the demo link didn't work as planned. I'll get that fixed first thing tomorrow with our web developer.

I'll get to giving it all a test run now!

The demo at the booth is Gravity Bear's Battle Punks. Maybe you guys saw it in the keynotes when Microsoft introduced Windows Phone 7 to the world?

Great news! There is another website bug then :) I gather that the products records on file have been just renamed to Torque X but they are not properly seen by the website. I do have two Torque X products in my list but when I assign one of them they are both assigned just as it's only one product and one seat. Shouldn't I see only one Torque X product showing 2 available seats?

Another problem: TXB2D is showing the Trial Version logo and doesn't ask for any ignition key, it just works in trial mode.

Thanks to all @ Garage Games, and the Torque X Community, for the hard work in making this happen. The first of many releases for TX hopefully!
Is there a new version of the Torque X Builder too? I can't tell from the listing in "My Products" as it doesn't have a version number.
Will there be a new version of the Platformer Kit? The latest version in "My Products" is 3.1.0.1.

On the downside I'm going to be away from my computer for a couple of weeks so I won't get to play with the new release for a while :-(

Great Job, I think my next major effort will definately be a TX3D game, it's totally up to the task now.
Thanks again for putting the effort into TX.
So can we see the W7 demo that Donald is showing at Casual Connect?
