Digital Shock Contract Art Available Through GG Dev Store

When it comes to art I try to provide as many different quality art packs as I can. They can help save time and money as well as provide code centric teams with something pretty to look at during development. However, when it comes time to launch your game, you usually want custom art to help set your game apart. This can either mean hiring artists or contracting out the art work. Recently I was approached by Thanhda Tie, a GG community member who happens to be the owner of Digital Shock, an art outsourcing company. He wanted to see if there was a way that he could offer his services to the GG community and thus the 2D & 3D Contract Art page was born.
Characters (click for larger images):

The 2D & 3D Contract Art page is just like our other product pages, except when you click the Buy Now button the page will forward you to a form that will help give Thanhda and his team the information he needs to help make a quote. All the people at Digital Shock are extremely friendly and prompt in getting back to people and finding something that will meet your budget without having to sacrifice the quality of art.

Digital Shock is a Toronto based company. They have a full suite of talented artists but are also looking into making their own game and possibly genre kits as well for the Torque community. They have worked with companies and games of all sizes giving them a good understanding of how to make great art assets at any budget. Digital Shock has been using Torque for several years now, meaning they fully understand the Torque art pipeline and can give you assets that can be plugged into Torque in a matter of seconds.

Give the 2D & 3D Contract page a look and have a conversation with Thanhda and his team. I'm sure you will find they can help make your game world shine without breaking the bank.

That is great news! I was asking more in terms of 2D Sprites (a la T2D). I am so glad there is an easy way to get in contact with contract artists here. This is great stuff and I will keep you guys in mind for my upcoming project considering I am in no way an artist.

Note: The exclusiveness only applies to what GG promotes through its store. This in no way prevents people from offering their services through blogs, forums or any other community channels.

@Joe - Because this is the first time we have ever done this sort of thing I decided to do an exclusive contract for a short period of time, at the end of which I will evaluate how things are going and if any other studios have contacted me about offering their services through our store.Note: The exclusiveness only applies to what GG promotes through its store. This in no way prevents people from offering their services through blogs, forums or any other community channels.

Aside from the 2D sprites are any of these screenshots (stairway) actually in game shots are all rendered from 3D software? Would be nice to see some shots of the models in game..

Heres one. But I'll have to talk to my Art Director to send me some screen shots of characters in-game for you.

Some pricing information (rough estimates) might also be useful for people that are choosing between buying stock models or having a specific model done. If the price is not too far from stock models, you might get extra business with this.

Stock models as in Kork? or stock models as in character packs? our services can range from $200USD to $500,000USD. Depending on what is needed the level of quality, the polycount, etc. We also work out deals depending on the scale of the project and whether you are indie or not. This service is more geared toward commercial companies, or budget indie game projects. Hope this answers some questions.

Hmmm... So.. Am I reading the other posts correctly? It seems there will be no other art packs offered through the GG store during this time frame? Or just no other Contract Art services?

We are a Custom art service. the screenshot above was one of our art packs we've developed for GG. We may offer more pre-package art packs later in the future.

Other people may promote their contract art services through the use of blogs/forums/profiles but GarageGames won't be promoting any other services for a short period of time.

@Randy - Art Packs will still go up as fast as I get them and can look through them. Other people may promote their contract art services through the use of blogs/forums/profiles but GarageGames won't be promoting any other services for a short period of time.

If you mean 2D sprites similar to T2D ones, then yes.
If you mean pixel art, then yes as well, but we only have 1 pixel artist who may have a waiting list for.
