T3D RPG Kit, Who wants one?

Digital Shock Network and Last Straw Games
Are now working side by side to bring the first full out Tradditional style RPG kit to T3D. With many months of coding we have been able to come up with a base foundation to create such kit. With Last Straw now joinning forces with Digital Shock, we will now be able to work much faster to creating a fully user friendly and working RPG kit. We are still doing some planning and changes to best suit the T3D platform.

What will it include?
We have a large plan scope already mapped out, but we will be introducing a more simplified version to start to see where the community wants to take it.

Will it be a simple genre kit similar to the previous kits out there?
No, not at all. This will be quite a heavily modified version of T3D, still following the core system of T3D. Taking advantage of the new T3D editor, we will now be able to allow users to create full length RPG games all directly through the editor. With our Event Commands, users will barely need to script at all. But of course for advance users, that will be an option.

Can you break down what you plan for this kit? How is this different from the other MMORPG kit?
The difference between the kits is quite huge. Our kit will have a full toolset of functions specified for an Linear style RPG, similar to FFX or any other Japanese Style RPG. We will also plan to include a few bonus functions such as a full functionning camera system, that can take advantage of our EventCommands to create full length cut scenes, all through the editor! This kit will also include(future version), a complete customizable battle system, which can be fully scripted, and saved as moduels. This means users can possible create their custom scripts and redistribute them later. We also plan to have a few basic pre-scripted battle systems in play, which are modifiable. For future release of any other style battle systems may be available for sale on the dev store. More Details on how exactly what will be in this kit will be posted soon in my blog page.

Is this the official RPG kit that will be provided as a genre kit sometime after the release of T3D?

finally we getting some news on kits besides forest kit. :P

i will be watching T3D RPG kit sounds good so far though i don't think Yuri Dobronravin is going to like this news as he just blogged about a Cut Scene Editor Camera for his GMK kit. you just said your adding the same thing basically. :P

how far is this kit going to go like climbing walls and stuff or that not going to be for this kit and thats the part where we have to script it in are self's. :P

how far will that battle system go as well i like to see that for the AI to see what they can and cant do. this is why i have not done any major scripting work yet as look like you guys are going to save us allot of work. i just been going test stiff for the time being besides 3d objects.

yes, please. Lets nots have the mistake of the 495 for the ability to view and 5k to publish a game incident repeat itself.

@Edward

I think you're talking about a product that wasn't developed or published by GG though, correct?

Nice.... looks just like RPG Maker 2000, 2003, XP, etc. which I like the interface for

@Matt
Originally Yes, but right now its been undecided. We are still in works of creating a solid prototype before anything can be said.

@Brandon
A climb wall function will not be a default Event Command, but can easily be done with a combination of Event Commands. So most likely you will still won't need to script that :) The big advantage of our kit is all about he custom scripts. Which may result in script packages on the Developers Store. :)

@Andy
It's too early to talk pricing at this time.

@Chris
It's good to see we have other people that have used the RM series. Yes this kit was inspired by the RM series kits. The GUI will most likely change a lot, but will show some similarities. Our goal is to bring all the functionality of that engine into the 3D world, to be used for both indie and commercial license games. The big plan with this kit is to make it as user friendly as possible, like RM its so well done, that you can pretty much make a game without having to touch any programming at all. But of course you can make an even better game by touching some code :P

Looks pretty good! I wonder what the price is too...

Thanks, honestly I was a bit disappointed to hear it will be for console RPG genre as that has no interest to me. Good luck with the project though.

@Matt
This is based on Linear RPG's, but we do have plans for mutiplayer options for possible future releases.

@Thanhda

I was thinking of something along the lines of Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, Fallout rather than an MMO or console RPG.

@Matt
Though this is more geared towards console style RPG. Action RPG games can still be produced using this kit. You will have to make use to the scripting function along aside with our event commands. Doing such task will definitely be possible but would not be a simple task.

Just hope it's not another vaporware like original TGE RPG kit...

This is something I am interested in. I am also looking for something to produce games similar to Neverwinter Nights or Dungeon Seige. The price would also be important to me (currently doing this as a hobby).

The RPG maker is the exact MLS system I mapped out for my game I was waiting for T3D's beta to get this working. Its not hard but its very tedious... I'm jealous you have T3D to work on it. It's like someone making my dream before me. >.<

But I wonder is you event system going to be SQLite enabled as well or bare files?

GL on the project I'm sure it's going to be fun.

An integration offering features like Realm Crafter would be awesome.. If GG did that, they would have a product selling since MMO's are what everyone wants to make..

Feature wise, RC is better than T3D for an MMORPG, however, T3D/TGEA does have a better renderer though.

Very interested!!! The ability to create cut scenes easily would be a great.
"Tradditional style RPG kit". Turn style fighting? or First Person/3rd Person fighting? I would prefer the 3rd Person fighting system (with camera lagging). With the ability to use different camera angles on triggers...Zelda-ish...
A easy to modify melee would be handy also...like josh moore's server side melee resource...
A built in modifiable dialog system would be nice too.
I mean...depends on how much it'll cost and such.

Sounds good though!
