Video
This video covers sketching out and initial design for a game so there is quite a bit yellow notepad work and not a lot of on screen nuts and bolts type stuff. So a lot of you here may find it a little boring, but I wanted to document the process from start to finish. It is interesting see how the final game changed from these initial game design musings.
The most amusing part may be my "assistant" right at the end of the video. I didn't know he was making those faces when we recorded it.
Next Up
Recording these is a learning process for me - both the recording and editing work. I need to have better close ups when I'm working with the program on screen. The next couple of episodes that I'm planning are:
Episode #2: Prototype
Episode #3: Simulator & Device
Finished Game
If you want to see how the final game turned out you can find it in the App Store:

Click to get iBabalu from the App Store.
That is actually not the final game because updates are so easy in the App Store. I am currently working on an update that adds more songs and a career mode. A little different from the days when you'd burn 100,000 or so CDs for the initial shipment and really hoped that you had QA'd it enough and didn't have some horrible bug.

Yeah, we're spoiled when it comes to distribution these days. The only CDs I burn anymore are recovery CDs for Windows-suffering friends.

By the way, I think your smoke detector needs a new 9 volt battery. They usually make that beeping noise for a while before they die...

Can't wait to see the next installment. I'm new to iTGB and games in general, but have been developing software professionally since 1988.By the way, I think your smoke detector needs a new 9 volt battery. They usually make that beeping noise for a while before they die...
