Was checking blogs and forums on the GG and was surprised by a new look... where is all of the features, that i am using over a years... where is nice community page?? where is my dev snapshot?
all of this goes to hell? no tutorials, no email about changing that stuff - only on blog post... so GG about what r us thinking :(((
as i see, more and more ppl disapointd by GG moves and slowly, but community comes down, many of the my friends was here, goes to another, more friendly communities... i want back good old loooking GG, or please make an option in the settings, where i can disable new theme of the site...
fully disapointed

i love GG'ers and that community, always trying to help, also i am understand "evolution" issue, but can it be done softly?
anyway, from this time i will never trust GG, feel very disapointed and empty... sorry, but such things never comes without trace...
i know all of my words sounds offencive, but so it is...

I think it looks fairly good. Constructive feeback: bring back the "most recent forum posts" display we used to be able to see. That was extremely useful.

i am not "moaning"... as i sad, that change can be done softly... any normal dev knows when "its time" to relase product to final use. also anyone knows that "beta-test" exists... and instead of starting that partialy working engine - may be its good to make working one and somehow link old and new one

so what now? begin again from a clean install? not really an option. and I dont believe I'm the only one who is in this situation. not good form GG. not good form at all.

what about the 50 plus paged I bookmarked? they all now show "404". most of them I was using to create various aspects of my game. all gone, now I'm sitting with code that I've been working on for a while, that wont compile, because the posts and resources with the code additions I was integrating are now gone. I THINK THAT SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!so what now? begin again from a clean install? not really an option. and I dont believe I'm the only one who is in this situation. not good form GG. not good form at all.

is along the lines of functionality. There are a lot of features
missing that become part of the near daily routine of using the site,
checking for new posts/updates. sifting through resources, etc.
now you cant really find anything in resources
all the prior resource links are gone (ouch this was really a nasty one)
forums dont have unread posts since last login, which was very handy for
checking new posts or responses to your own posts.
I dont see the page that use to show just the forums you had posted to so you could check just a sub-set of forums you were interested in.
tons of links, docs, and usability has been lost.
seems like this site needed a lot more testing, maybe even a beta site put up somewhere else to let people check it out, comment and fix/clean it up before just throwing it out the door.
the only hope now is that the people involved with this can sift through all these comments and start the cleanup and functionality improvements it needs instead of just getting bitter or ignoring all of us.
so summary, look is ok, functionality not so good.

we all know that people will complain about changes. This new look is actually not bad and will take some getting use too, however my complaintis along the lines of functionality. There are a lot of features

The new look is ok but very generically bland and sterile. It's the decrease in lack of functionality that really bothers me -- and the seeming to push the "community spirit" to the curb.
They did say that the new website would be easier to tweak and modify, so hopefully things will improve.

I feel your pain Maxim. I was a bit let down myself when I saw this new scheme. The new look is ok but very generically bland and sterile. It's the decrease in lack of functionality that really bothers me -- and the seeming to push the "community spirit" to the curb.

- look is OK
- usability take a bad hit
The old "what's new" section was very useful, very efficient. I don't seem to get a better efficency with the new site (although I hadn't the time to test all the possibility of the new site).
The search tool seems to be more efficient (it's an easy upgrade, but very useful one).
All my bookmarks on GG forums are actually useless (this is Thee 2 last years of forums wandering that is gone in a day : about 150 bookmarks ! I hope it will be operational soon).
No more file download in the resources : that is very hard !
But, it is the first day of the new GG site, and I hope that all our concerns will be addressed soon.
Go on GG wev site team ! :-)

And the per-page presentation is counter-productive (especially for searching in all the comments).

And yes, the inability to correct our posts is a non-sens (but I think it's a missing feature). And the per-page presentation is counter-productive (especially for searching in all the comments).

Design overall is clean, maybe a bit to clean.
Also missing the dev snapshots.
Let's hope that read this and fix these issues quick :-)

anyway, i dont want to loose all of those years that i dedicate to GG and community, i will give a chance... will wait and look what happens, but as i sad - now i dont trust anymore. also now looking for a replacement for TGEA, if GG dont want to be friendly, why I must?

Because it shouldn't have been done this way in the first place. =( Yes, it's a new site. Yes, they will (hopefully!) listen to all the issues people are having and direct immediate attention at fixing those issues. Yes, that will hopefully make the site improve.
That doesn't make it better right now, though. That doesn't fix the fact that they have put this site out acting like it's the best thing since sliced bread, when it's so obviously (to most of us) an enormous step back from what we had before.
That doesn't solve what many of us see as the underlying issue here, either. A new, sleek/cold feel to the site while simultaneously removing or damaging virtually all of the features that made the site such a great community resource and gathering place seems totally at odds with what GG has stood for in many of our eyes. My biggest concern is less the look and function of the site today (although it's obvious that the site should have been betatested by the community before it was foisted off on us live!). My biggest concern is that it might represent a fundamental change in policy at GG, and that's just sad to see.
We can certainly do without the random swearing, it doesn't do anyone any good. =P But if we don't stress the issues we are seeing, then how is GG to know that we're upset about this at all?

Quote:I think it looks great, sure its moved around a little it and some things are missing, etc, but it went live within the last 24 hours, why not give it a chance to bed in, get modified, adjusted and evolve instead on instantly moan and critique. Feedback is always good, but alot of this is just moaning.

The old site was in need to a more revamped and up to date look. I like to new site better, but I also welcome CHANGE (means things are happenning!!). It was a bit confusing at first, but only because I was used to the old site, after using it for a bit, it's growing on me. But if you're a first time newby to the site, you'll know no different. The blogs and resources need to be a bit clearer though, lots of blank space otherwise, apart from that nice job.

Resources and Forum posts ect. are broken. Also links inside Resources
and other posts are broken. I think this is the main problem a lot of
customers now have. The rest takes only a bit time to get used....

This community, its purpose and the people in it, mean a lot to me. There are certain features I'm used to, and I cringe every time I go to click on something and find it's missing.
But here are my 3 MAJOR POINTS:
1. We are not done! There is a web team meeting going on right now. They are taking the constructive feedback they are reading very, very seriously.
2. Something new was released, the bugs are piling up, and there is obvious discontent. That doesn't pave the way for users to post vitriolic blogs and encourage mob mentality. We have Jacob's blog and three active forum posts about the bugs and needed features. Use them!
3. The value of the word "community" is being tested right now. You are still able to create blogs, post in the forums, and e-mail support. For the love of God, pull together and remain calm. If we want to destroy the community, we will delete all the forums, blogs, and support threads. Obviously, we haven't done that.
We are hearing you loud and clear. Please, bare with us. It's been less than 24 hours.
You still have David, Ken, and myself to help out. If you are having an EMERGENCY issue not related to a site bug, you can e-mail:
moderators@garagegames.com
That e-mail is dedicated to forum help, product issues, and general site HELP. It is not a complaint box or product support mail.
Trust me, trust GG, and trust the awesome team that is working overtime to make the site better than it was before.

Hey everyone. By now, I think most of you know who I am and how active I am in the community. I was extremely active before I became an employee, and I've tried to maintain that. This community, its purpose and the people in it, mean a lot to me. I still use it everyday and love it.
I haven't found a reason to move on to TGEA.
I know some will say that it's better etc but I've been developing a game for over 2 years now with TGE and am feeling a bit lost that TGE isn't even on the engine list except for the forum areas...

I have work to do today on my project and my virtual study/library/brain was just shredded into uselessness, is GG going to pay me for the time it now takes to transverse the web sight? This is the type of thing that should have been co- launched along side the OLD site, so it could be explored and comments made without interrupting everyone development time.
If i had a product loyalty meter from 0 to 10 it just dropped 8 points, and it was not at 10 to start with.

Personally I feel people have the right to express dislike. Most of GG paying loyal customers were just pit in a pit and shot. Its a great big FUCK YOU! and im insulted. The dev snapshot was the best exposure many people could ever get, this has now also gone.
The community blogs are what make GG diffrent but GG seem to keep on pushing this into the backgrond, I am sure community blogs where the front page on the site before last, it is the heart and soul of GG, it is the community.
Sort out the community and give them priority, return dev shots, return, jobs and forums, make it easy for devs to find devs, pretty please
