Coaching Youth Baseball
Hey Everyone,
Shayne here.
I've been working on a game design for about seven months now and have made some big breakthroughs over the past couple weeks. I'm not sure what to call it because I haven't come accross a game like it, but I guess you could call it an Intelligent Sports RTS.
The game is essentially an interactive simulation based on coaching youth baseball. I chose youth baseball because I have played baseball for 16 years, still do, and have coached 3 teams already with success. You can imagine all the related sequels that could come out of it if it were a success.
It requires a gamer, or coach, to teach his or her young players all the skills and strategies required to play baseball. It accomplishes this through an intuitive user interface. A coach can begin by teaching six year-olds the fundamentals of baseball and then graduate to preparing 12 year-olds to compete for a chance to go to the World Series. The players will develop and learn the coach's strategies during practices held between games. A coach will also have to worry about in-game management and all the fun little quarks that come with coaching youth baseball. All this is made possible by the A.I. Learning Engine I have designed over the past six months that models how a child learns to play baseball. The full spectrum of talents and strategies that a player can learn are built into the A.I. Engine. Games that learn are considered the next big thing in video games, and this game fits the criteria of a game that learns.
I know it's an original idea and have contacted Little League Baseball's licensing company, SloaneVision, to try and set up a pitch meeting with the intention of procuring a PC license with Little League Baseball.
I spoke with SloaneVision today, gave them a little pitch, and they agreed to let me give them a presentation in NY city when I get the first workable demo ready.
So, now I am moving forward out of pre-production and want anyone who is interested in being a part of the project production to jump on board.
Anyways, let me know what you think. I would love to gain the support of the Garagegames community because I've learned so much being a part of it.
