Hi Everyone! (First blog post...)
I'm Greg Walek...
Several people know me just as "Grash"
So I survived my first week of classes...
Only to schedule the rest of this week with events for my students.
I am a professor at New Hampshire Technical Institute
I'm teaching the second year courses for Animation and Graphic Game Programming
These are (this term)
AG 225 - 3d Game Applications Development
AG 290 - Project Specifcation and Portfolio class
In 225, we're using TGE for all of our work and projects. We'll have final projects from the end of this semester to show off. Right now we're digging through the core Torque classes.
This Friday, the AGGP students are running a "Teen Night" for the campus Planetarium.
We'll be bringing 360's to play some games on the dome.
Some video of the dry run of Halo2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkWUja6_w9o
Saturday is the start of the NHTI Game Jam... We're taking part in the Game In A Day event, We'll be finishing at 7pm this Sunday. I'm gonna try to get a ustream up so you can see the ongoing silliness and the final results (that's ustream.tv)
Anyways, 225 is evolving on a daily basis as I find what the students need to know or can retain from week to week... So any words of wisdom, suggestions from other educations on tackling Torque would be great right now...

Greg, if you guys have a big Halo 3 event, I'm sure I can round up a few gamers and drive down there. You're probably only an hour or so from Hanover. Make sure you post about it!
Good luck with the classes!

I'm a former NHTI student, fraid I went to concord back before we had the game courses but I took what I could from the classes so I could work in the game industry. I've been trying to find out more about the new class, for instance if they are going to switch to using torque 2d/game builder for the 2d parts of the course. Also wondering if some of my old professors are still about, back when I went the lead for the CPET course was Simkin. Well best of luck on the classes, and hope to keep hearing updates about how everything is going.

How are things down in the Dallas area these days?
I think I've used the phase "Praise be Torison" one ore twice already in class.
Last term the guys tried to use TGB with little success...
It's interesting that didn't have Torision. I'm hoping that with it will make a difference this spring.
William: I am teaching 225 at night this semester. Thursday nights. Given your BS, you should be qualified to get into it. Drop me an email
