Paintball Net progress...grenades and a new team member.
Paintball Net didn't have as much progress as we had hoped in September, but we did have some!
Eric Segar has now joined the team as an artist/modeller. Eric is a paintball enthusiast and even was a player on the original Paintball Net. Eric has already tweaked our model of our "free paintball gun" to be a bit more "paintball-like". We're happy to welcome him to the team! =)
In related news, we've added grenades to the game now. You can throw 'em forward or backward (useful if you're being chased) with hot-keys, or even have a grenade as your active weapon (so you can use your mouse to aim and throw). They currently have a 2-second arming delay, after which they explode on contact. It's fun to watch them bounce around...and maybe roll downhill back at you if you didn't throw it far enough... ;-)
Work continues on the new map. Lars is texturing the buildings, and then we add vegetation and a variety of spawning points and we call it "done enough." Hopefully, soon...
Some new screen shots to help tide things over:

This shows the new gun, though it's hard to see the new details in the reduced size.

This one shows a grenade as an active weapon. I tried to get a shot of a grenade in-flight, but they were too small to see well once I had JPG-ed the screen shot...

..so here's a close-up of a player holding a grenade. It'll have to do.
Have fun!

This is looking great! What type of weapons will you be putting in the game? A wide variety with kits/mods?
Can NOT wait.

Don't know if that's good or bad, but the style of gameplay sort of requires it to happen. Kits/mods would be cool.. But I guess if it was done within a GUI, while buying/selling items.
PS: I check it everyday :)

To answer the other questions: The plan at this time is to support modifying guns and other equipment with kits. We've done some of the groundwork for kits, but they are going to be fully implemented until probably the 3rd round demo. And, yes, we've moved away from the text commands.

only... PBN was/is unique... there are so many other 3D games, i think it would be better if you could just get PBN back up, instead of creating a new game...
oh and one other thing: is it still going to be free and let you buy levels and stuff?
keep up the good work!
