modelled in Blender right? Looking good. Is that normal mapping / bumping on the turret or just a shadow baked into the texture? How long did it take you to learn blender?

I have been using blender for a few years now, I learned from the tutorials on there site and went on to write some of my own tutorials, if you need blender help here are my tutorials: http://www.raivestudios.com/tutorials/blender/

As for the texture it is simply just how I made the texture, there is no bump map on it.

Yeah, blender is getting better and better. I mostly use it for its awesome UV mapping functions, but I am starting to use it more and more as my main modelling app. Its great for sketching out quick ideas, base meshes which can be thrown into another app like Zbrush or 3ds for fine tuning.

Blender has alot going for it, once you get over the interface's learning curve :)
