Blog post
Hi folks!
Jeez, I just realised my last .plan (that's what they were called back then :P) was in Aug 2004, so that's over 1,5 yrs ago... and I figured I could really write a new one now... so here goes :)
I've never been really away from Torque, I was just focussing on paid jobs, and that meant doing web projects mainly in my case (Java, PHP, Content Management Systems, Shops, stuff like that...).
BUT I also did some some paid TGE projects, too (together with the 3D-Diggers) ... and I'm still working on some (commercial) TGE projects currently - which I can't really talk about yet... but I'll post some infos and screenshots soon, I promise :)
I am self-employed (you can call it "Indie" if you wish ;)) since almost 3 years now, but without a constant cash-flow you really have to focus on paid jobs/projects ... you have to pay the rent, insurances, pension, food, car, etc... you get the idea ;)
So to get everything going I really had to cut down time spent with "not-immediately-payed" (or not-at-all-paid") projects, which unfortunately included stuff like the AI Pack I was working on with Phil, Justin & Co., the TIDE/JEdit plugin, etc.
Another decision I made in the months after my last .plan was to reduce the time in front of a computer monitor a bit (before that, I've spent like 10 hrs a day for "regular" work and another 4 or so hrs for "spare time game-dev") and to get back into guitar playing again... I hadn't played at all for over 5 years, so I started practicing again ... and in the last year, I've also completed the "A-TEAM MUSIC ACADEMY" in Munich (private guitar college where you have lessons 1 day/week), which was a blast and really got me back into the music scene again - I'm playing in three different bands now, including a Thin Lizzy Coverband, which is really, really fun! :)
Anyways, so I'm not really "back" since I haven't really been away (I'm still visiting the GG page every day and hanging out in IRC usually), but I will be posting blogs on a more regular basis again I guess... ;)
Since a blog can't really be complete without a screenshot, here is a little (not DirectInput compatible) USB-device I've got to work with TGE last week ... more info about the project it is used for will be posted in one of my next blogs I guess ... so stay tuned! :)

cheers,
beffy

I saw that image and read about your guitar thing, I then had this strange thought that you'd made some kind of weird mix of joystick and stomp box guitar doohicky!!!
:)
Great to have you back around Stef.

@Willbkool: yeah, TL was an awesome band, they've written soooo many great songs and its pure fun to play all those classics... never liked playing in "cover bands", but with that TL stuff it's totally different... I just love the twin guitars etc.!
@Eric: lol :) yeah, it's not really fancy, but it really has a lot of features, and its not intended for the "casual gamer"... it's not even used for a "game" ;)

Or a really fancy flight simulator gamepad
Did you design it yourself, or did you get someone to make it for you?
