Woah!

Gratz on getting this long awaited pack out the door Stefan, and thanks to Robert too.

Are there any additions/improvments/tweaks compared with what it was back in July 2004 ?

@Christian: well, yeah, Robert had the animations and textures improved, and I think he has also tweaked the code a bit ... and the pack was tested with TGE 1.4.2. and TGE 1.5.0.

Eric Kinkead   (Apr 16, 2007 at 09:24 GMT)
nice.

Neil Marshall   (Apr 16, 2007 at 12:38 GMT)
Yeah! Nice to see this actually maybe coming out :)

Scott Kaine   (Apr 16, 2007 at 13:25 GMT)
Thanks I can't wait

Wow... I haven't thought about the Horse Pack in ages! Thanks Stefan for hosting it on 3d-diggers. I hope people enjoy the hard work that we put into it. And Kudos to Robert for keeping it alive for us. :)

Gabor Forrai   (Apr 18, 2007 at 11:47 GMT)
Very nice pack...congratulations. I hope the animations will be lifelike...its the key element for a good horsepack.

Stefan Beffy Moises   (Apr 18, 2007 at 17:27 GMT)
@Danny: yeah, been a while ;) which reminds me.... I should have mentioned that you made the model and animations - great job!
@Gabor: the animations, model and textures are awesome - as mentioned above, Danny Ngan did the model and animations and Eric Elwell made the different textures and they both did a fantastic job! I'll post a movie with my next blog, once the pack is ready for downloading - which should be tomorrow :)

The horse pack err... packaging still takes some hours, so here is a quickly recorded video to make the waiting easier :)

Nice Vid :)

I see the dismounting is still the same ol, 'standing up' on the horse ;)

Had hoped for a sidestep there, but well -tweaking on the way then.

Neil Marshall   (Apr 19, 2007 at 17:58 GMT)
Is my horsie death animation still in there?

Patiently waiting with debit card in hand :)

Here you go!
There will be an extra blog post tomorrow, too... but I'm too tired for now ;)
Oh, and there are special offers for all the "wild wild west" packs (including the horse pack) available for the next 2 weeks!

Great Pack! ;) Sweet animations.

Only bother right now is its "Kork Sized". :( Its like Huge.

Ill fiddle with the source and hope to get him smaller... *wonders if the dsqs work if the dts is smaller*
EDIT: Nope DSQ scales the smaller horse. Alas gotta rescale the animations too.

Cheers

@Thak: you can use

%obj.setScale("0.8 0.8 0.8");

where %obj is the horse / ai horse object... e.g. you could scale it on creation (look for "new Horse()" and "new AIHorse()" in the scripts and scale it after it's created), or scale it in the mission editor (using the console) with

1559.setScale("0.8 0.8 0.8");

or whatever the current object id of your horse is...
If you don't scale it too extremely, the animations should still be fine I think.

Thak   (Apr 22, 2007 at 13:04 GMT)
Thanks Stefan

I re-exported the model and its animation for my purposes. Dunno why I dont trust the ingame scaling for non static objects. :)

I'm having bits of difficulty with some of the scripts, namely dismounting and jumping... the dismount function is being called.. but it doesn't dismount ... any ideas?

Stefan Beffy Moises   (Apr 23, 2007 at 13:34 GMT)
@Ed: did you merge the changes to player.cc (look for the "RFB" comments, see Readme)? Those deal with dis-/mounting... if the dismountHorse() function is called, then this is the only thing I can think of...

Robert Brower   (May 03, 2007 at 08:01 GMT)
I want to give a special thanks to Neil Marshall who produced the horse's death animation and helped out also. Without it, the pack would not be complete. Thank you Neil. You were very helpful. Neil, send me an email, let's touch base.

Best regards,

Robert

Adding in the cc and h codes and compiling one gets the good old 'dgl.h' error.

Any ideas if there will be TGEA support for this totally awesome pack ?

Hm, I'm not yet aware of that one yet ;)
Did you rename the .cc file to .cpp?
I'll try if I can get it to work on TGEA...

Neil Marshall   (Jun 15, 2007 at 18:10 GMT)
Robert, I've tried emailing you twice and I never get a response. Oh well.

I've purchased the pack and I've noticed there is no Death animation for the horse?
