I hve now spendt my hole weekend playing with this nice engine. Saturday i brought the MMOkit too, because my gold is to make a MMORPG.
I have played with it and walked through the code, and it all seems very nice, and pretty easy to use.

But last night i was trying to find some tutorial, jsut basic ones, for exporting and making models in 3ds max 8 for this engine. I found out that this i very hard... all the tutorials i can find seems to be out dated, which means that i really can't use them.

I know im pretty new in this community(which i find very great :) ), but i find it very hard to find good, updated, tutorials for this model/exporter part of gamemaking.

So I will jsut keep hunting for 3d modeling/exporting tutorials :)

PS: If I'm totally wrong here, and i jsut haven't discovered these great tutorials that you know is out there, please let me know :)

PPS: Sorry for my bad spelling and use of words, english is not my mother language :)

As for making models with Max or any program.. you will need to look for tutorials for that program.. to be used in TGE/TGB/TSEA/Etc the models have to be exported as .dts files.. many of the programs have exporters that have been made to do this for you.. and you need to find that exporter and its threads to learn about it..

In this community you will find alot more threads full of information you have to pick through than you will actual tutorials but the community is also great at answering questions if you get lost or can't find the answer in your searching.

Starting points for information are the forums for your engine type you purchased (GG-main-Community-Forums) AND the TDN (Torque Developers Network) (GG main-Developers-Torque Developers Network).

ALSO.. TGB (the 2d game builder) has alot more actual tutorials than say TGE (3d engine version).. but TGE has been around longer and even the older stuff is still usefull to some extent. All the engines come with demo programs.. break them apart and learn how they work is a good tool too.

AND THEN.. There are also two excellent books that will teach you ALOT about Torque.. they come with several "tutorials". One you can purchase here at the site (Game Programmers Guide to Torque.. GPGT) and one you can buy from Amazon or other book dealer or even find in bookstores.. (3d Programming All In One.. 3DGPAi1)

EDIT: Oh yeah! I forgot about the packs! Packs like Bravetree's Jill, Car, Tank, Etc. will teach you most everything you need to know about getting your models in the game and working. You can find these where you got the MMO pack. AND definately check out Torque ShowTool Pro.. its a Torque model makers dream.

Welcome to the madness!

Howdy Mads!

As I mentioned in Msn, I thought I better throw them here too -others might actually have the same questions.

Regarding the various modelling programs, they do themself not really go in dept considering Torque exporting, and the 2 books out there about Torque takes the indie approach and thus mostly covers Milkshape, not 3DMax as the modelling/exporting tool.
The various packs, could be of usage to you, but bear in mind that they 'might' have another approach than the standard 'fps' GG-ork.

Good luck -kammerat!

Christian,
Stick the [url] link [/url] tags on them and they can be accessed with just a click.

Thanks for the additional info.

Since your an MMOKit owner, you could hop into our IRC chat by going to MyDreamRPG and click on the Product Support link.
We have a lot of artists, many of whom have mastered exporting out of pretty much anything you can imagine.
Most are very friendly and willing to give assistance at any time.

Regards,
Dreamer

p.s. I'll make a note to Ash that a tutorial for just this situation would be useful, and see if we can get one made sometime in the near future.
