Blog post
Hi all,
I felt it was high time I finally let the community in on a little of what we've been up to over the last year. We've been working hard, and our hard work is paying off. Onverse is taking form and we're all very happy with our progress. Personally, I've had upsides and downs, but most importantly have learned a lot from the whole experience. What a great ride!
So what is Onverse?
It's an idea I came up with a long time ago, but never really did much with it as I was very happy with my job learning my trade at SOE for 4 years. But after getting the itch to do something bigger, I made the pitch to a few friends and they said I'd be crazy not to at least try and do it. So I made the move back to Arizona where I was closer to home, could live cheaper and run a business cheaper. I never really wanted to live in Phoenix, but it has turned out to be a great place to run a game development studio, despite it getting up to 120 degrees in the summer. There are multiple colleges and art schools here that have game-related curriculums and not too many competitors to compete with. Plus, Zonies rock, there are a lot of talented people here with just not very many options to help them express it. Sometimes I wish I had done something easier, but Donald Trump said "Nothing is easy, but who wants nothing?" :)
So what the heck is Onverse already?
The idea has evolved and morphed over time as we evaluate and re-evaluate what works and what doens't. Without spilling the full bucket-o-beans, it's a virtual social network that becomes a hub for owning property and decorating it, customizing an avatar and your clothes, and venturing out with your friends to play games and have fun. Sound familiar? Ya, there are many companies striving for that same basic package currently, but we feel we can separate ourselves with our approach and some ideas that hopefully will develop into our bread-n-butter.
It will be a growing effort as we can get into beta, and past to a public launch (ETA unavailable atm). We're a small team of developers with a lot of drive and belief in our product. It's not a matter of if we can do it, it's when, but we're chugging along just fine. Over the past year this team has solidified and I'm very impressed with our effort, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.
At some point this year, we'll begin taking beta registrations from our website, so I hope you all try it out and I'll try and give updates here as our milestones progress.Thanks.
