Hey everyone.

As promised, here are the first ever gameplay videos of Determinance. As most of you know, polishing comes last in this business, so there are plenty of rough edges; especially the stiffness of the characters and the blandness of the shown environment. However, we feel these vids give a good impression of the originality of Determinance, and a feel for how it plays.

All the videos are the same quality, the variation is in how much footage is shown. The large one contains all the preview footage, while the two smaller ones have some content cut. Use the torrents if you can :)

www.omroth.com/determinance-med.avi (2.5 minutes, 45 meg)

www.omroth.com/determinance-small.avi (1.5 minutes, 30 meg)

All feedback is hugely appreciated.

The files doesn't seem to exist on omroth.com, but the torrent worked at least. I'll watch it now in a moment.

Looks like the files got corrupted on the server, just re-uploading now. Should be up in an hour or so.

Is the cloth part of the animation or calculated on the fly?

Ian Omroth Hardingham   (Jun 29, 2005 at 14:04 GMT)
Hi Neil.

The cloth is 100% dynamic, calculated on the fly.

I hate it when you go to play a movie you're excited about and you don't have the codecs for it.

Ian Omroth Hardingham   (Jun 29, 2005 at 15:29 GMT)
Sorry about that

www.divx.com for the codec.

I'll upload a wmv.

I am downloading the DX50 codec now...

A wmv would be much better though

Your storyline sounds a lot like Highlander.

I am very impressed. The cloth looks great. The sword fighting is awesome. I was going to implement sword fighting like that for the next game I want to do. I am quite a ways a away from being able to start on it though, and my game is ENTIRELY different then yours... I suppose you aren't resourcing it. What about when you complete it ? Will you resource it then ? I'd really like to get my hands on the code to do your sword fighting. Saves me having to write it myself.

That is all TGE ? You have a very large viewable distance. Is it just because you don't have any filler objects and junk ?

I am impressed... The only thing that struck me as odd was that you had to hack your opponent like 15 times to kill them... Generaly a sword wound or 2 is pretty deadly.

Very humbled by what you are doing here. Feel free to send me an email if you need anything you think I may be able to help with. I don't have a lot of time, but this is a project I really want to see completed.

Sweet deal...looking good so far. I like the cloth simulation and a resource on that would be pretty cool. Cant wait to see any further updates on this. Keep up the good work!!

Looks pretty sweet!

I would really like to see cool cloth physics (or soft body, or whatever it is called, :D) in Torque.

I can spend hours in Guild Wars watching my Guild cape float and move as I move and run, hehe.

would love 100% dynamic cloth. That would be so great.
