Blog post
Greetings;
I just wanted to Introduce you to Patch File Creator aka (PFC). I started working on PFC a little over a month ago and it has grown a lot since then. To see some Screen Shots of PFC please visit Our Website

Key features of PFC include:
Playing music while patching
Ability to run the patcher in automatic mode
Patch File Compression
Byte for Byte Patching of any file type
Ability to change the patcher's text to customize it to your game/company.
Portable to any game engine.
Ability to have Transparent Backgrounds
Use Graphical Buttons with normal, mouse over and click images.
FTP Upload tool to upload your patch to your server and place the files exactly where they need to go.
Ability to take your update server DOWN so the patcher will not DL any files.
Plus a lot more.
Plus Plus a LOT more to come.

Most of the key features are in the registered and PRO versions however you are still able to use PFC in it's unregistered state with the standard non-graphical patcher window with only Patch and Play buttons.

If you would like to give PFC a try, you can Download a copy from >>HERE<<

We also have available a DEMO of the patcher which you can Download from >>HERE<<

As always, any feedback is welcome. If you have any questions you can either post them here or Email me at UUICEO@AOL.COM. I respond quickly to emails.

:D

Does your patcher create diffs for binary files?

This looks promishing!

@ Tony Richards
Thank you for pointing out the spelling error. PFC does not currently create a diff file for binary files. We are in the process of adding in Byte for Byte patching which when finished will allow this feature.

@ Christian S
Thank you for the kind words. I've been trying to add as much in to this tool as possible while trying to keep it as user friendly as possible.

I just rewrote the crc checking function in the patcher and build programs and increased the speed of both apps substantially. This update will be released in v1.4

I just finished writing the bit for bit patching routines and so far testing is looking quite promising. Still a lot of testing to go but I thought I would let everyone know the progress so far. and before you ask 'YES', this will patch executable files. I have already tested it on executables and it worked perfectly. (should be able to patch any file).

My initial internal testing is done. The bit patching routine worked 100% with every file type tested. I am in the process of incorporating the new routines in to PFC and should be ready to release a new v1.4 Beta very soon.

Also included in v1.4 will be an FTP uploader designed specifically for PFC. It reads the new PFC_Version.dat file and uploads your patch files to your server and places them in the correct location. The new tool will also take down your update server before it begins the upload process and will turn it back on again after the upload has completed.

I have finished adding in the bit patching to the Patch Builder app.. Now I'm starting on the Patcher itself. Hopefully I'll have a Beta ready before the end of the weekend.

If you have tried PFC I would really love to hear your thoughts about it (Good or Bad). I'm always looking to improve it's capabilities and user friendliness so please let me know whats on your mind.

We have officially begun Beta testing on PFC v1.4. As of this posting there have been no bug reports since I released it for Download several hours ago.. So it's looking good so far.. But, that can always change. hehehe.

What has been added in v1.4?

Well, the main things added were Bit Patching and the FTP upload tool. There were many fix's and upgrades to existing code to make PFC much faster and some of the items from the old PFCBuild menu were removed to remove possible crashes if things weren't turned on/off correctly in all the different editors. Currently these are the key features of PFC:
@ = PRO Registration
# = Indy/PRO registration

Bit Patching of files to create very small updates @

Patcher Window editor with click and drag ability for easy patcher layout

Patcher text editor to allow you to customize what text is displayed to the end user by the patcher

Patch File Compression to make very small archived patches which will aid in less DL time for your users @

Ability to use either normal or Skinned Patcher window (with or without a title bar)

Ability to use Transparent Backgrounds (Using background images requires a minimum of Indy Registration)

FTP Upload tool designed especially for PFC. If registered you can automatically upload your patch files to your server immediately after the patch is created. Unregistered will have to do it manually.

Encrypted PATCH.CFG files to prevent your end users from changing the patching process.

Portable to ANY game engine or most any application at all that needs patching.

Ability to play music while patching.

Superior Customer service from the CMD team.

LOTS More updates planed.

Single time registration and never any online revalidation's.
