We have reach the day of official launch, i can hear the keyboards clicking away. We have had to make a few items of note with our release. With the loss of our original programmer, much of his stuff had to be pulled (since he wasnt there to fix it with the new upgrades) So we lost a few items. But in the process we are starting a bit fresher. So in light of this let me explain.
Alpha 1.0 will be release tonight. It will essentially be our first open look at the enviroments and some of the other functions. We had to essential kill the ai and dialog for the initial launch do to bugs and other items. We have also had to halt on some of the levels, we didnt have time to light, debug and clean up of the levels, becuase somehow.. we lost our shapereplicator... really makes it a pain to do some effects without it.
We do plan to do two releases in this contest. Some folks have a weekly schedule, we are hoping to have a patcher system, but its on the list of things to do. We do plan to return Ai to the game for the next update. As well as some vehicles and Inventory. You will notice we are setup for it. We have as you noticed in the last 3 weeks been going through some fast changes and very busy. My new programmers assured me there will be a working inventory very soon (date not given) but im hoping it will be available by the end of this update cycle. As well as things to kill.
Without Ai we decided that we would only place some teaser art. Examples. The City centers, alot of them have some of the common animals, the gaurds in the main castle city, and if you check out the castle you will see the king.
We hope to that folks will take time to look around, and want to let folks now that yes some levels are empty. Examples are 4 of the fire levels are not finished, the atlantian levels are not complete since 2 of them are racing and vehicle specific levels. It makes it very hard to do those without Ai, and when your adding in multicharacter support( which when its fixed, alot of other items will finally be able to be fixed) So what we did was cleaned all the levels we could, turned the lights on, and giving you a uninterrupted tour of the world, these are a fraction of the levels of the full version. We have pretty much another 12 levels that i could pop over but they are not finished, and there is a bit of art that needs to be finished before we can turn them on. The next update the levels will be rearranged and you will not be able to view them as individual levels, so please enjoy them while you can select them. Those are striclty for ease of viewing. The next version 1.01 will not have the mission selector. And you will see essentially a evalution of game play from what you thought you saw, to what is developing.
Personally, i want to thank DGI and associates ahead of time, for this contest, it has seriously given me and my teammates(i hope) a eye opener on the way of the world of a indie developer. We wont be dropping this ball, what you see here is a essentially the prototype for Fantasci:hidden war, and its entire Saga. I have the original game planned as well as a entire story arc which i may have mentioned before, that will keep our studio and our team on the forfront of the challenges to come.
So what else? Well there isnt much else we can do but wait. I just have to upload this to our server.
But what we will do is create a mixed bag here. We want to go public, but we want to know who wants access to the downloads. So heres what we got. Anyone that wants access needs to do 2 things.
1)Email me at racs333@hotmail.com and request permission, make sure you have Alpha, in your Subject Line.
2)As a prequisite after viewing we need you to go to the alpha feedback forum and give your opinions and official feed back for the contest. www.mydreamrpg.com/contest/feedback.php
We need as many as you can pile on there. So lets keep them clean, and lets have the best launch we can. I will be posting again tommorow to confirm with everyone that the upload and everything is open. and be on the look out for your reply emails for the open alpha. All you have to do is ask.
