Blog post
Tactical Assault is coming into view with a bunch of new models, development site, and a handful of gui controls and a rather cool "cloaking" effect that is being used for the Recon class.
My thoughts
I've been learning a lot on the torque engine, more specifically...

Adding new GUI Control Types
Using 3D and 2D sounds
Image rendering using 2D commands found in dgl.cc
Changing skins via c++

Overall, I feel I'm finally coming out of the dark wondering how this or that is done. Now I'm starting to understand what many parts of the code do, and even more solid grounding in the scripting.

My progress (v1.1.1.5)
Added Radar and Compass image-based GUI Controls. (posted in R. Ackley's tutorial)
Added cool cloak effect. (think Quake 1 meets Perfect Dark)
Tweaked AreaDamage function. (now it is nearly error free on terrains)
Designed character creation menu. (on paper)
Designing playGUI draft. (one of many done by team in Photoshop)
Finally delivered full build with source changes to team. (woohoo!)

My goals
Add a vehicle. (waiting on PC's tut, I'm too lazy to start from scratch now)
Add one of our gun models in game
Compile team's GUI ideas into a solid prototype.
Finish 2d/3d audio tutorial. (it's coming!)
Build engine that runs on water.

Tactical Assault news

We got our first bit of press coverage!

Really surprised me since we really don't have much done, nor have we even been in contact with anyone outside our site or forums.

Dutch tactical gaming network (www.tacticalgames.nl has posted a short article.

Here is a compilation screenshot (Not really what I want to post on screenshot gallery... when we do, it'll be amazing. I promise!)

Anyway, post comments and suggestions.

I want to get this compass code out, but the rotation part (about 20 lines of the 100+ Phil Carlisle wrote) is done by someone else.

I really would feel lame trying to take credit for something I only integrated and slightly changed, so I'll wait until PC posts his so I won't feel guilty.

Cool!

do you have a big team?

i like the idea of enter in a team!

i'm working all by myself in my tribes2 mod and it gets real hard to code, tweak, track bugs, post at forums... lol!

but anyway i can't help codding cause i don't have the engine...

but if scripting is permited i can help scripting the compiled code!
