Blog post
As this is my first .plan, I figure I might as well list out everything I intend to do in the upcoming months.

First, I intend to license the Torque Game Builder (Pro License, gotta have source!).

After which, I have a series of 'source kits' I would like to create, more or less as educational paths for myself but I figure I can share the education with the community and convert the projects into tutorials or free code snippets, etc.

These kits include, but are not limited too:

A Fully Working Blog/Forum Reader complete with GUI Elements utilizing TorqueML, with a fully working MOD for both GeekLog (popular Blogger script) and phpBB2 (popular forum script) so that posts are output in TorqueML already -- less strain on the game client, no need to convert HTML to TorqueML, etc. This resource would be public.

I also intend to work on an RC Pro AM style racer game, which utilizes particle effects, TGB's physics engine (to the best of it's ability) and networking -- this would most likely become a free download with fully commented source as an option. Perhaps a tutorial, but the extent of the overall project may go past that of your average tutorial -- though I may write a tutorial along side it and make two projects (simplified, and rev'd up).

I'm also working on a Break Out / Arkanoid Clone, which is actually almost complete -- just have to add Levels and some minor gameplay functionality (power ups, lasers, etc) -- this will be released as a general tutorial, which may be split into a set of smaller tutorials (Working with Tile Layers in Code, Building Levels with Tile Maps, Working with Collisions, etc, etc -- dunno yet).

On top of that, me and my 'team' are almost done the design phase of our first Platformer, which we hope to be able to publish. It will be a children's game, most likely modelled after a popular kid's show (if we can get permission to use there character(s)).

EDIT (2006-09-12): After obtaining a TGB license, I've been sorting through all the TDN Docs and quite a bit of the resources -- Due to a limitation in TorqueML, I've got alot more work laid out for me then I thought I did -- there appears to be no way to have a "link" in TorqueML that generates a callback or calls a function within TorqueScript, so I'll have to create a framework for how the Blog/Forum GUI Kit will allow for it's output and then generate a list of all the posts, and allow the user to click through them one by one -- lots of parsing, lots of GUI code to write ... don't hold your breathe on this ... but don't give up on the idea, it's still on my TODO and has a high priority.

Awesome project, look forward to seeing them progress, be sure to keep us informed!

btw huge thanks, you've been a great help in helping out the TGB community by answering questions and helping people solve problems in the forums.

Ok -- small update to this List of Todo's ... Here goes:

There all still on the List, :)

But no, seriously, here's an actual update:

The Blog/GUI stuff, I made a quick and dirty example using the TCPObject and submitted it to the TGB Public forums back in September or so -- I've since taken the resource off my website, and have not worked on it since, I do intend to pick it back up, clean it up a bit and write a few 'forum' scripts (phpBB, etc) that can be dropped into your websites forum directory and used "out of the box" by pointing the resource to the website script.

The RC Pro AM Racer -- I've created a quick and simple demo outlining general car physics and basic movement mechanics, and have also provided a demo for that in the Public forums -- this two has been removed from my sites downloads, and I intend to re-visit this in the future as well.

The Breakout/Arkanoid clone, I worked on this for a short while, got the basic mechanics and general physics down (thanks to some help from the public forums) and have not yet polished it up and released it -- this to is still on the list of todo's and I hope to revisit this one shortly.

Oh and, for the platformer game -- the entire idea was scrapped and we won't be working on it -- although, I've replaced the platformer game with the "Urban Building Kit" (a Content Pack both myself and Steve Adamson from Gear Worx Productions are working on and hope to release soon)

On a side note, I'm about to release my first Game to the public for free, it's a Memory Matching game more or less targetted at kids but I hope to also appeal to the older audience in some way -- the games in beta now and being tested by a limited few (you can download the beta and provide feedback by going to my website, Zoul Creations.
