Looking great!

Texturing could do with a little more contrast though.

I'd like to see a wireframe and poly count if possible.

Its well executed but kinda bland I guess. The lower half doesn't seem to suit the top half in my opinion.

I agree about the bottom half. Why protect your shoulders with armor, but leave the abdomen exposed?

Still looks awesome though!

I like it and agree with the bottom half looking "exposed". Although it does makes sense. A soldier should move low and make use of objects for protection. Not heavy armor which slows him down. The soldier in current state can hide behind objects for protection, but still look over the top/around the sides to fire, while still being somewhat protected. So to me it does feel look right after all.

Looks great! And... perfectly suits my game, definite purchase. :-)

One thing that struck me. Is the upper armour modelled into the character, or do you have a "character base" thats modelled without the armour.

One thing I really want from a character pack, especially a soldier one, is the ability to take a basic figure, then to add embellishments. So for instance, having a soldiers head (as a swappable mesh), helmet, upper body without armour, upper body with armour, torso without armour, torso with armour, legs without beltkit, legs with beltkit etc.

Add in things like a backpack etc. Basically have base mesh + lots of accessories that will allow a great deal of variation.

Another thing to mention, is to not have the texture layers baked down to a single texture but to have photoshop layers for it. That way we can do our own lighting based shadows, change the camo on the base texture etc.

For reference, I really like how they did it at complete characters with the texture layers etc.

Make sense?

Phil, the Rocketbox library is very well presented.

It may sound expensive however it breaks down to around $30 per model. A team I'm working with have licensed the Complete Characters library and the models are extremely professional. The presentation and quality is beyond any other content vendor I've found. From the mesh to the texture to the skinning and animation, these models are flawless. The guys at Rocketbox are pros selling commercial quality artwork - a lot of companies falsely make this claim however Rocketbox is an exception, they really do sell commercial quality products.

Highly recommended.

Heh, you'll want to generalize your design a lot, unless your only market is people making killzone clones.

Very nice.
I like it a lot.
This soldier lacks protection in many places, though (legs, stomach,...)

I agree with Phil about the customization scheme.

BTW, anyone got that complete characters or soldiers pack working with TGE?

Yes.

When will you make this model available for sale? and will it be fully animated? also can you get a included mount list with it, as i want to use it with a mmokit.

Tank Dork   (Jul 05, 2007 at 16:29 GMT)
The armor appears to be melee defense and not ballistic (unless the brown portion is the new kevlar being developed from spider silk). The shoulder guards are very similar to gladiator armors. Designed to protect you more from savage over hand attacks from the inexperienced and allow you a large degree of flexibility in your lower body.

But the model itself and, imo, the texturing are excellent!

Totally agree with you guys on the contrast in the lower part of the body. Which is definetly noted.

Mario N. Bonassin   (Jul 05, 2007 at 16:41 GMT)
I like the proportions, it actually looks like a real person, too many models these days are too stylized or overly muscular. If you plan on selling this as a pack then the suggestion of seeing it with out the armor would be great.

weapons?

Looking better every time, agree with the bottom half comments, perhaps a body army codpiece or something similar is in order?
