The Torque Motion Team are proud to announce the first update for theTM-Basic Animation Pack. The updates contain the following.
Version 1.1 includes:
  • 60 DSQ Torque Animation files for Ava
  • 60 DSQ Torque Animation files for Adam
  • Updated all the original .DSQ Torque animation files for Kork & Space Kork to be exported without any node transform
  • Updated documents and code base for the previews

So, for our exsisting customers you can download your updates for free. And for people that are not our customers the price is still the same. This is what you will get in the current TM-Basic Animation Pack.

    TM-Basic Animation Pack:
    - 60 DSQ Torque Animation files for Kork and Space Kork
    - 60 DSQ Torque Animation files for Ava
    - 60 DSQ Torque Animation files for Adam
    - Code and Script implementation samples with documentation

Thats a total of 180 DSQ Torque Animations files from 60 Motion Capture source animations. We manually hand animate the animations for Adam and Ava using the original Motion Capture source animations so both of the models using our animations won't look "orcish". We been through all the troubles of animating and exporting so you wouldn't have to. ;)

Here are some comparison between all three models.

(Adam and Ava are created by Spencer Boomhower. Both models will not be included in the Basic Animation Pack.)

Please have a look in Adam' Gallery and Ava's Gallery to see all their animations. Every DSQ Torque Animation files will be interchangable between models using the same skeleton.

Here's an in-game video to see the animations in action.

For high-res video 20 meg [*.wmv] you can grab it here.

    What's next ?
    - We are working on another update for this pack and hopefully we could release the update soon.
    - We are standardizing our motion capture source file, documenting the process of getting the source file to work with your model and exporting it to the dsq format so it can work properly. This will take quite a time before we can release our motion capture source file.

The Torque Motion - Basic Animation Pack can be locate here

I was hoping that the animations would be extended to human characters. Well done to the Torque Motion team!

Of course, I clearly need to buy Adam and Eva now.

Between this pack and the upcoming Character System from Frogames, it's a good time to be a Torque user!

@Gary, btw i think the Character Pack from Frogames is now available for purchase directly from the Frogames website. I purchased and downloaded a copy about 2 days ago.

Great Job Guys, The You Tube video is great. Seeing the moves on a human figure really shows the realism.

YAY! I was hoping the human animations would be done soon! I think Ava is a little too macho, and breathing a little too hard. But other than that, this looks great. I'll be getting it for our team ASAP!

    Blessings to you!

looks good.. my only crit is on ava in the 'rest position' the breathing motion is too big for her size. the arms/head dont need to move quite that much (looks butch, and her legs should straighten out . otherwise very cool

    Thanks guys,

@Burin : To the current date we've been working on this pack for about 3 month.

@ Sparkling and dienasty : As for Ava animations we still used the same Motion Capture source files that we used for Kork and Adam (our actor is male). So she'll be looking like some woman warrior or something like that ;P

@ Taran : We planned that the "Professional Version" would be a seperate product. At the moment we have no idea when we can release the Professional Version as it will require alot of work to get it ready. I'll try to keep the community updated on the subject.

Nice work, Aun! Glad to see you got this all together, looks awesome.

I wonder how that space orc can swim with all that metal on, though? :-)

I really have to make Skeleton Pack conform to this standard - next release I guess...

Frank Carney   (Mar 01, 2007 at 03:01 GMT)
Are there any models made with Blender that could use this? I would very interested if there were some guidelines about creating a character in Blender. I have done the IK animations and for now it is good enough, but it would be nice to be able to grab a pack of canned animations for testing and initial development.

I really like watching the shader orc roll around. Very cool.

    Good job,
    Frank

@ Andy : Let's have a chat and see how we can get both of our content pack compatible with each other.

@ Rookie : We will get the Biped source files out in some form as soon as possible. ;)

Thanks Aun. If it works with Torque-Motion it should then work with the other Kork compatible packs.

Spencer Boomhower   (Mar 06, 2007 at 00:09 GMT)
Fantastic work, Aun! It's a blast to see my characters driven by your great new animations.

In general, this kind of content pack crossover among Torque pack developers benefits us all. It's a win-win-win.

Thanks for your reply Aun. I did buy this pack and my team has implemented some of the Adam animations into the build. I would like to make a couple requests for an update to the human avatar set, if I may. Adam's feet stick out to the sides when he moves, like the orc, I would really like to see a patch or update available to us with corrections to make the human actors more human and less orcish. And the female needs to be truly femenine. Quite frankly, most of the female animations are far too masculine. I could be wrong but I think most people who have females in their games want real women, not macho women (I'm speaking especially for the women gamers that I know personally). I can't speak for other games, but the women in our game specifically are not typically warriors, they are females in an historical environment. The idle animation for Adam is the best. Other than the feet, the standard run animation is good too. Great job guys!

The professional version with the 3DS animations so that we can add our own, or fix the parts we don't like is also attractive. We are discussing the possiblity of upgrading to that as well when it becomes available.

Overall this has been a great improvement to what was previously available to us, and we really appreciate the opportunity to use it in our development. :) As I said before, we have a list of other needs as well. Do you have any plans to do animal animations? I can send a list of animals that we need. :)

Thanks for your contribution to the Indie community!

First, I want to say, that the animations are incredible and have saved us time and money. Our only bottleneck has been using AFX and the animations together. Is anyone else have this problem?

Aun Arinyasak   (Apr 25, 2007 at 11:09 GMT)
@ Robert , what seems to be the bottleneck ?

    Aun.

Aun Arinyasak   (Apr 30, 2007 at 03:29 GMT)
@ Robert , I've sent you an e-mail last week not sure if you got a chance to read it. I'm just trying to make sure if I could help you with your bottle neck.

@Aun - did you get my email here a while back with the list of requests? If nothing else you can use it as a brainstorm list for future commercial products you produce. :)

    Blessings to you,

    @Sparkling

I did get your email and it was a really good resource for the team. And if the community would like you could request the animation you need here.

Excellent glad you got the email. I was afraid I had frightened you with such a long list. You had invited me to send it though, so hoped it would help your team also, and maybe someday it will help us too! :)

Heya just wanted to ask if you guys will release the max source files sometime soon so we can put those animations on custom characters. Thanks

Aun Arinyasak   (Aug 11, 2007 at 21:42 GMT)
    @ Thak,

We have put countless hours of work with the source files and yet we do not feel it is ready to be release. Please accept my apologies with such a long delay but we will not be releasing the source files yet.

    Aun.
